Marigold Health is looking for a Chief of Staff to join our Product team, to guide our process, team and strategy growth. We are looking for someone who has experience with developing teams, establishing systems, and tracking effectiveness. The ideal person will have had experience working with or on a Product team to define and execute an organizational strategy, and serve as a cross-team liaison. You will work closely with the CPO/co-founder, and get daily exposure to all aspects of the organization. Someone who enjoys context switching, communicating internally and externally in both verbal and written ways, and has exceptional judgement and high emotional intelligence will thrive in this role. We’re ideally looking for someone who is familiar with working in an early-stage company environment, who can self-direct and prioritize their own work when needed. About Marigold 
Marigold Health exists to give every person with a mental health or substance use condition a place to feel heard.  We have designed an asynchronous-first treatment program where patients support each other. We believe peers, individuals in recovery themselves who have received training to support others, can empower & engage those least likely to interact with current forms of care. 

What You'll Do

    • Work alongside CPO to stand up new initiatives and strategic product projects, acting as interim team lead across technical and clinical teams; ensure effective handoff to long term owners  
    • Manage the hiring strategy for the Product organization, working with Operations and People Ops to define, source, interview and hire the right folks for our growing org—this will include full-time employees, advisors and consultants 
    • Own relationships with vendors to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery; prep and participate in pitches and initial meetings 
    • Run effective meetings, both within the team and cross-departmental, and ensure accountability for action items; co-own strategic planning sessions (e.g. brainstorms, roadmap discussions) 
    • Work closely across departments to communicate updates and priorities; ensure everyone is aligned on Product strategy, roadmap, and existing capabilities, specifically Clinical Operations team 
    • Develop and execute ongoing mentorship and training programs for the team, leveraging other departments and outside resources effectively 
    • Define and measure success and effectiveness of the organization, against KPIs related to customers, budget/ROI and employee satisfaction and productivity  
    • Partner with people ops to develop a strong, consistent feedback culture 
    • Co-define and foster a team culture and operating model 

    • Reporting, Schedule and Location: This is a full-time opportunity reporting to our Chief Product Officer. Most team members work virtually from home and are located on the east coast and internationally.You can work remotely anywhere in the US. If you prefer in-person work for any portion of the week, we currently have offices in Delaware and Massachusetts. You should expect to be available during east coast hours, and to collaborate on a recurring basis with developer teams based in India and Europe.  

Skills and Experience

    • 6-8+ years of work experience, with at least 3-4 years in a directly relevant role within a product team or HR at a fast-growing product-oriented company 
    • Experience with people management, including vendors and contractors, and professional development and coaching 
    • Proficient recruitment skills, specifically in product/engineering roles 
    • High degree of discretion and empathy; demonstrated experience handling complex and sensitive interpersonal situations 
    • Proficient enough in technical concepts to manage technology-focused projects and effectively communicate with developer teams 
    • Change management skills to guide and communicate shifts in strategy or direction 
    • Demonstrated experience developing, executing and tracking a strategic program from scratch 
    • Ability to develop systems and processes, ensure adoption, and measure effectiveness 
    • Adept with product strategies and technology systems; ability to quickly learn new tools in a relatively self-guided way 
    • Strong communication in both live and written ways (via text- and video-based channels) and ability to run effective meetings. Comfort with distributed, remote work across multiple timezones 
    • Team mindset and a commitment to the success of others and enjoy collaborating on multiple diverse projects at the same time. You value the expertise of and enjoy learning from people with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences 
    • Ability to move fluidly between the birds-eye view and the individual details: you can dive deep into the minute details as easily as you can understand and convey how a high-level plan meets the needs of a given initiative's goals 

    • Nice to have 
    • Background in health tech and/or substance use recovery or behavioral health 
    • Familiarity with Jira, Asana, Teams, basic database skills 

Compensation, Benefits and Culture

    • The base salary range for this role is $140-170K, depending on experience. In addition, as part of our founding team, this role will include significant equity.

Interview Process  
After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the hiring manager and select members of the team. If it seems like we’re a good fit for each other, we will follow up and schedule a 15-30 minute phone call with one of our leaders to get to know you. 
If we jointly decide to move forward, you can plan to (virtually) attend a 45 video interview with members from our Product Team. Next there will be a technical assessment tailored to how you best like to work (e.g. take home or live). The final stage would be to meet (2-4) other members of the team via video conference for additional conversations about your approach to collaboration, your relevant experience to current projects, and alignment with our values. All in, you can expect the time commitment for this stage to be 3-4 hours of synchronous interaction, scheduled to fit your needs.

Marigold Health is an early-stage, rapidly growing startup providing services for a range of community based mental health and substance use treatment providers as well as national health insurers.  We collaborate with eminent investigators at Brown University and Johns Hopkins and have been publicly recognized by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the American Psychiatric Association.    
Our program is a combination of 1-1 coaching and 24/7 anonymous chat support groups accessed over phone, SMS, and app/web. On the backend, proprietary natural language processing tools scale our peer workforce by augmenting group moderation, automating patient outreach, and sending sentiment-based “alerts” to coordinate care with other providers. Following strong results from our first clinical studies, we are entering a period of rapid growth, and expect to expand from 2 states today to 12 by this time next year.
