Position Summary
As a Mechanical Design Engineer intern, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting next generation products and collaborate with cross functional engineering teams to design and develop our computer vision capabilities. This internship will provide hands-on experience in areas such as product design, 3d printing, and documentation, allowing you to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
This position is based in San Jose, CA and Palo Alto, CA. You will need to be able to commute between these two locations frequently. You will be onsite Monday through Friday for up to 40 hours a week.
Internship Start date: May 2025
You Will Be
- Collaborating with the hardware engineering, manufacturing, and software engineering teams to verify and improve upcoming computer vision and camera designs and functionality
- Prototyping, testing, and debugging with cross-functional teams to drive design enhancements
- Contributing to the development of test requirements, including plans, protocols, and reports
- Executing tests, collecting and analyzing data to inform internal design decisions and improvements
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or possessing a degree (MS, BS) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Practical hands-on work in mechanical design or product development projects
- Familiarity with SolidWorks is a must
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative startup-like environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, injection molding, and 3D printing
- Knowledge or experience of picking tolerances for individual components that will be assembled into a final product
- Fluent in Mandarin
