The Opportunity:

The Senior Director, Network Student Enrollment is Mastery Schools Network’s executive enrollment lead and strategist, and provides network leadership for the strategic enrollment management plan and the attainment of Mastery’s enrollment goals. S/he oversees admissions, Philadelphia, PA/Camden, NJ school enrollment, online enrollment, recruitment marketing, student engagement/retention efforts and targeted student services across the network. The incumbent provides strategic and operational guidance for both the vision and results of integrated recruitment, retention, and recruitment marketing initiatives in connection with the Mastery’s mission and strategic plan; advises enrollment policy; helps lead the network toward innovative enrollment partnerships; and serves as a member of the Mastery’s operations team. The position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides strategic and operational guidance for all student enrollment aspects of Mastery
    • Creates processes and enrollment metrics that align with the goals of the organization
    • Monitors the reporting of student enrollment metrics, outcomes statistics and student survey and supports efforts to address student satisfaction
    • Works with Finance, RSO, COO, Central Operations team and Assistant Principals Operations to assess, set and monitor network enrollment and enrollment budget targets each fiscal year
    • Supervises any designated staff or consultants to establish and monitor new student enrollment goals and the development of proactive, and personalized recruitment strategies
    • Develops enrollment management tactics best practices, including but not limited to student recruitment events, recruitment marketing and communication flow, financial leveraging, outreach campaigns, and student retention strategies
    • Works closely with schools and Marketing/Communications team to continually hone and implement effective recruitment marketing and brand awareness strategies and to continually develop and enhance the web as a recruitment tool
    • Works closely with the Compliance department, to ensure that Mastery remains in compliance with state/local school board requirements
    • Works in partnership with Mastery’s Data team and the CIO to advise Mastery on enrollment technology tools and practices; supports a technology and data-driven culture that effectively supports both staff and students.
    • Provides updates to the Chiefs and Board of Trustees as required
    • Helps integrate and elevate student life components (i.e. student activities, student and academic support services, orientation) within Mastery to ensure its market position as leader in K-12 enrollment experience is continually strengthened and reinforced
    • Demonstrates and reflects an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values 

Qualifications:

    • Has multi-site/location leadership experience and managed of complex projects
    • Understands how to communicate in large organizations
    • Has the ability to take systems and procedures to scale 
    • Has experience as a generalist in marketing, program development, leading change and implementation of initiatives that future growth
    • An out of the box thinker and reflect on systems strengths and weakness
    • Effective leader of team and has the ability to develop staff for leadership roles
    • Has worked effectively across an organization and at the location/site level
    • Flexible, motivational change agent able to navigate evolving enrollment priorities, while focusing on enrollment growth and positive cultural change in support of an exceptional student experience
    • Strong, positive communication and interpersonal skills
    • Effective in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships
    • Experience with administrative and student information systems, and ability to use databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and shared drives
    • Ability to set the proper tone – one of urgency, high expectations, assertiveness, but also one that is ethical, respectful, collaborative, team-building and motivating

Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
    • 5-7 years’ experience as an enrollment leader at the Director, Dean, or AVP level, directly responsibility for enrollment results, preferably in a non-profit, membership, sales-service model institutions
    • Supervision/management experience required
    • A proven track record of goal attainment; clear understanding of enrollment management theory and practice; understanding of relevant technology and system usage; commitment to exceptional student service; expertise in data analysis; and the ability to plan strategically, and serve as a ‘mentor leader’ are required
    • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency, and self-awareness with the ability to reflect and adapt to diverse environments
    • Ability or willingness to use and train others to use proactive outreach techniques that engage, motivate, support and serve students

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as maneuvering in office space-reaching file cabinets, filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls
    • Must be able to sit for up to four (4) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse and typing
