Position Summary:
The Director of Alternative Programming will provide development and implementation support toward a vision of ensuring our most at-risk students receive the programming, interventions, and resources needed to address academic, social-political, and behavioral barriers to academic success. The DAP will launch and manage mental health, mentoring, and afterschool programming to support our most at-risk middle and high school students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with campuses to support the implementation of Rebound, Mastery’s gun violence prevention program at targeted middle school campuses.
- Provide case management support for students receiving targeted Tier III interventions through our Rebound program.
- Develop and manage afterschool and summer programming for all Rebound middle school campuses.
- Manage community partnerships to provide referral and intervention services for students facing sociopolitical challenges (gun violence, food insecurity, mental health supports).
- Provide management and professional development for middle school Rebound program facilitators.
- Provide training for staff on effective intervention supports for at-risk students.
- Manage and support mentorship programs across our middle school campuses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; BA degree in social work, psychology, or education preferred.
- Understanding of the social political barriers to students’ academic success and demonstrated experience in building programming and partnerships to remove barriers.
- 3+ years of leadership experience in an educational or clinical system with a focus on supporting marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated ability with building robust community partnerships.
- Ability to provide leadership and manage complex projects.
- Experience coaching or managing others.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with implementing middle school preferred.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to drive improvement.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role as required, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as: traveling to network campuses; maneuvering in office spaces (including standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away); stooping, kneeling, reaching file cabinets/shelves; fine finger and hand manipulation in use of computer, chalkboard, dry erase, &/or Page 2 of 2 projectors; filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; sitting for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and typing.
Other Requirements:
- Position requires local &/or regional travel to Mastery and other sites. Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle, or access to reliable transportation.
