As Corporate Counsel, you will have the opportunity to help navigate the complex legal landscape of Tinder North America’s marketing, PR, and partnerships. You will play a crucial role in transforming creative concepts into executable strategies that comply with legal standards.

We are seeking a motivated and talented lawyer to join Match Group’s Tinder Legal team. This hybrid role is based in West Hollywood at Tinder’s office, reporting to a Senior Corporate Counsel on the team, and will primarily support the Tinder Marketing and Communications/PR initiatives in North America.

You'll make an impact in the following ways:

Legal Strategy and Execution

    • Brand Campaign Advisory: Assess potential risks and provide strategic legal solutions to minimize exposure on creative concepts and published materials, ensuring compliance with advertising laws, consumer protection standards, and intellectual property laws and clearance obligations for marketing and press promotions, events, sponsorships, and partnerships.
    • Contract Drafting and Negotiations: With oversight from Senior Corporate Counsel, draft and negotiate contracts and agreements with partners and vendors to protect the company's interests and ensure compliance with relevant laws. Collaborate with business partners to tailor contracts that support business objectives and provide practical advice throughout the contract lifecycle, from initial drafting to final execution and beyond.

Collaboration and Compliance

    • Interdepartmental Legal Support: Work directly with marketing, media buying, and PR teams to tailor provide tailored legal advice that supports business goals. Actively participate in strategy and creative sessions to offer real-time legal guidance.
    • Compliance and Security Oversight: Ensure business practices align with corporate policies, especially in vendor relations, data privacy, and financial operations. Lead initiatives to improve security protocols and compliance measures. Monitor and audit internal procedures regularly and address or raise any deviations in a timely manner.

Process Improvement

    • Resource Development and Management: Develop and update key legal resources, including contract templates, compliance playbooks, and training materials ensuring they reflect current laws and industry practices. Host and facilitate training to help business partners stay up to date and operate with current legal guidance.
    • Legal Process Optimization: Evaluate and optimize legal processes by identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements. Embrace new technologies for document management and automating routine legal assessments.

We could be a match if:

    • You have a law degree from an accredited institution and the eligibility to practice law in California, either through admission or qualifying for in-house practice.
    • You have at least four years of relevant legal experience, ideally from both top law firms and corporate legal departments.
    • You are detailed and accurate, known for providing clear, practical, and creative legal advice, with a strong attention to detail and willingness to engage with project specifics.
    • You excel in teamwork, displaying an ability to work seamlessly with both legal colleagues and cross-functional business teams.
    • You have exceptional fact-finding, drafting, negotiating, and researching skills, with detailed and effective written communication.
    • You have experience with marketing and technology law, and consumer protection, including by drafting and negotiating related contracts.
    • You have a proven grasp of privacy laws, intellectual property, digital and social media, and influencer endorsement regulations within the consumer internet sector. Familiarity with current US cultural trends is a plus, especially if you have experience with music licensing, talent, and production agreements.
    • You are proactive in identifying and resolving problems, with the ability to encourage confidence among business partners in an approachable, and patient manner.
$180,000 - $195,000 a year
The compensation range listed above is representative of the base salary offered.

Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of Los Angeles, CA. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
