Technical Operations
As a Sr. UAV Operations Technician you will act as both a leader to other UAV Technicians, and a Senior Technician responsible for operating and maintaining the full stack of Matternet products. You will have regular remote interaction with Technical Staff based in Menlo Park, CA USA. UAV Operations Technicians support both permanent and temporary Pilots all over the world. This position will be based in Zurich, Switzerland. Candidate must be willing to travel regularly within Switzerland with occasional international travel. Completion of 15 day training program in Menlo Park, CA USA is required as part of on-boarding process.


    • Participate in global Matternet operations
    • Act as an expert in Matternet’s technology stack
    • Provide in person support for Lugano Technicians, when required
    • Perform root cause determination of mechanical and electrical failures
    • Replacement of safety significant components/subassemblies
    • Complete manual and/or short automated flights for vehicle (re)qualification (including manual landing, hover, and take over during test flight emergency)
    • Submission of all Flight Squawks
    • Daily flight and repair reports to company HQs
    • Assistance with regulatory submissions and flight route planning
    • Interface directly with customers
    • Supervise Switzerland-based Technicians
    • Act as Matternet's emergency on-call representative in the country


    • Expert in the root cause of mechanical and electrical subassembly failures of a multi-rotor vehicle using appropriate ESD precautions
    • Rework of PCB and/or other electrical subassemblies, limited to drop-in components
    • Expert in the inspection of electrical components (i.e. cold solder identification, etc)
    • Experience in replacing safety critical/high risk components
    • Experience piloting remote-controlled multi-rotor vehicles
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
    • Experience supervising a staff of highly motivated, diverse individual contributors

Highly Desirable Skills:

    • Experience working with autopilots, GPS, antennas, LIDAR
    • Expert in piloting multi-rotor vehicles
    • Project Management experience
    • Experience with UAV collision warning/avoidance systems
    • Knowledge and experience with UAV Aviation Regulators
    • Experience working with REGA, Skyguide, FOCA
    • Experience writing, editing, and implementing written procedures in highly regulated industries (e.g. SOP’s, QIP’s, QAP’s, etc)
