As a UAV Operations Technician you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the full stack of Matternet products . You will have regular interaction with a local supervisor as well as Technical Staff based in Menlo Park, CA USA. UAV Operations Technicians support both permanent and temporary Pilots all over the world. This position will be based in Zurich, Switzerland. Candidate must be willing to travel occasionally within Switzerland with infrequent international travel. Completion of 15 day training program in Menlo Park, CA USA is required as part of on-boarding process.

Responsibilities:

    • Actively participate in global Matternet operations
    • Become proficient in Matternet’s technology stack
    • Complete on-site UAV burn-in and basic autonomous flights
    • Assist with Regulatory submissions and flight route planning
    • Perform mechanical checks and routine rework (i.e. propeller/prop adapter replacement, etc
    • Assist in installation of landing stations
    • Diagnose & repair landing stations
    • Interface directly with customers

Qualifications:

    • Experience in the root cause of mechanical and electrical subassembly failures using appropriate ESD precautions
    • Rework of PCB and/or other electrical subassemblies, limited to drop-in components
    • Expert in the inspection of electrical components (i.e. cold solder identification, etc)
    • Experience in replacing safety critical /high risk components
    • Experience piloting remote-controlled multi-rotor vehicles
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient in spoken and written English

Highly Desirable Skills:

    • Working with autopilots, GPS, antennas, LIDAR
    • Expert in piloting multi-rotor vehicles
    • Project Management experience
    • Experience with UAV collision warning/avoidance systems
    • Knowledge and experience with UAV Aviation Regulators
    • Experience working with REGA, Skyguide, FOCA
    • Experience writing, editing, and implementing written procedures in highly regulated industries (e.g. SOP’s, QIP’s, QAP’s, etc)
