Head of Design will help scale and support a design team across brand and product. You will have a strong track record of building design teams from the ground up and will know how to guide, product, brand and user research. You have that entrepreneurial mindset to come in and work with a solid foundation and grow the team around the unique challenges we face. The design team is a small group of ambitious and grounded people. No egos, no prima donnas, won't fit on the team. We expect this person to lead by example and build a foundation that would be the heart of the brand.
Design leaders should have the ability to step back and consider alternative perspectives. Empathy is core to design and as a design leader, it’s important to embody this in both product and brand as well as personal interactions with the team.
Articulate design decisions and strategic thoughts is critical for this role. We expect design leaders to be able to be transparent and highly communicative with the team and entire company.
Design leaders should know how to build bridges to the rest of the organization. They are quick to jump in and help people and frequently engage with other teams and parts of the product.
Leaders steep themselves in understanding the holistic vision for the product. They think about the long-term and how their decisions now will impact the design and product down the road. They also realize that their assumptions about the long-term are going to evolve over time.
A designer with 7+ years of experience in the digital space.
Previous Director with experience setting long term vision and design strategy.
Strong understanding of how Product, Brand, and User research work.
You’ve conceived and iterated product features based on data, analytics, and strategy.
Experience building products with multidisciplinary teams.
Capable of balancing user and business needs.
Excited to contribute and take ownership at an early stage of a company.
Flexible in a fast-changing startup environment (able to “roll with the punches”).
Great foundational design skills (typography, composition, overall good design sensibilities.)
