Your Role at MediaLab
As a Senior Manager, Social at MediaLab, you will define the strategy and own execution of content curation and publication across all of the company’s brands and their respective social channels.  You are organized and analytical, understanding that each metric offers an opportunity to optimize how we engage with users across the globe. You’ll be responsible for managing the social media team across all of the MediaLab Brands: WorldstarHipHop, Genius, Imgur, Amino, Kik & Whisper, reporting directly to the Head of Growth, and working cross functionally with the Sales and Branded Content teams. 

What You’ll Do

    • Seeking a dynamic leader with a proven track record in people management and strategic leadership to drive our team towards excellence and innovation.
    • Manage the team, set KPIs and spearhead social growth.
    • Define the overall vision for the social team and secure approval from relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop a comprehensive strategy for each brand and platform in collaboration with the leadership of the social team.
    • Manage the performance and output of the team to drive increases in followers, engagement and revenue. 
    • Track and measure performance to guide strategic decisionsEstablish automated monthly KPI reporting and long term monetization goals for the social media team.
    • Build and deploy a comprehensive content calendar inclusive of all brands and social channels.  
    • Partner with Sales and Creative to deploy sponsored posts in the most effective manner, to deliver advertiser goals while maintaining KPIs.  
    • Partner with HR and Recruiting to hire, onboard, develop, and support the social media specialists within the team.
    • Maintain relationships with social media platform companies. 
    • Ultimately accountable for Social team goals. 

What We’re Searching For

    • Must have exceptional leadership skills and a strong background in people management, with a passion for mentoring teams to achieve their highest potential and deliver outstanding results.
    • You’re on top of pop culture and trends, understanding what appeals to people (and algorithms) while always thinking of how MediaLab brands can enter the zeitgeist to drive growth. 
    • You excel at managing team members who are rock stars in social media storytelling. They have the ability to condense breaking news into engaging Instagram carousels or tweets, transform the most captivating segments of 10-minute user-generated videos into engaging 25-second TikTok clips, and craft concise copy that captures the online audience's attention.
    • You have extensive experience within social media monetization, specifically identifying revenue generation opportunities across all main social channels. 
    • You feel comfortable owning a function within a larger organization inclusive of budget, resource allocation and critical revenue metrics
    • A self-starter: you take pride in developing a plan, executing it, and reporting on the result.
    • You can stay on top of a large volume of content while ensuring its distribution and reach is maximized across platforms.
    • A strong written communicator. Your social copy is straightforward, accessible, and matches the vibe of your audience.
    • You have a track record of successfully setting and achieving team goals and objectives. 
    • You have previous formal leadership experience managing a team inclusive of other people leaders, leading hiring cycles and providing performance management.  
    • You have previous experience managing the acquisition and distribution of  licensed content.  
    • Experience with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and other Photo and Editing software.
    • Deep experience navigating community guidelines across Meta, Tiktok, X, Snap & Youtube. 
    • Comfortable coaching a team to create, craft and execute editorial narratives across a wide variety of channels.
