We’re looking for an assertive and ambitious legal professional based in our Austin, TX office who strives to be at the forefront of the pharmacy industry. Your role and responsibilities will involve working closely with our small legal team along with our robust compliance and technology team to provide support in various legal matters. You will be expected to have significant experience and expertise in the legal field, with the ability to handle complex legal issues.

What You'll Do

    • Work with outside legal counsel to ensure compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to pharmacies, telemedicine, and e-commerce.
    • Conduct in-depth legal research to analyze and interpret laws, regulations, and legal precedents relevant to the organization's activities and cases.
    • Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, pleadings, motions, and other legal correspondence.
    • Assist in managing litigation and other legal matters, which may involve working with external counsel, preparing evidence, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure the organization's activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Identify potential legal risks and provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies.
    • Collaborate with internal business leaders and external consultants to ensure privacy terms and conditions are compliant.
    • Participate in contract negotiations and review agreements to protect the organization's interests.
    • Analyze complex legal issues and provide clear and concise recommendations to management and other team members.
    • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization and advise accordingly.
    • Manage relationships with industry trade groups and outside legal counsel.

Qualifications

    • A law degree (LLB or JD) from an accredited law school is required.
    • 10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a law firm, corporate legal department, or pharmaceutical or medical background (FDA or DEA experience is a plus). Previous experience as a legal associate or a similar role is essential.
    • Depending on the jurisdiction and the nature of the work, the candidate may need to be admitted to the bar association of the relevant jurisdiction.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess legal issues and provide effective solutions.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to draft legal documents and communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with the legal team and other departments within the organization.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
    • Thoroughness and attention to detail are crucial to ensure accuracy in legal documents and advice.
    • Demonstrating a high level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all interactions.
    • Being adaptable and open to learning, as the legal landscape and business needs may evolve over time.
