About the Role

As Assistant Manager - Investigations at Meesho, you’ll manage the investigations charter focused on conducting strategic investigations in the corporate and the supply chain at Meesho. As the lead Investigator, your primary responsibility will be to conduct thorough investigations into various matters, ranging from corporate misconduct, conflict of interest violations, policy breaches  to malicious activities and behavior affecting the organization. You will conduct fact finding investigations, gather evidence, interview witnesses, analyze data, and compile detailed investigation reports. Your work will require keen analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Your guiding question in this role will be “How can we support the building of an efficient, high integrity organization, while keeping customer and seller experience at max”.  You’ll answer this question every day through owning the Investigations charter for Meesho at large.

What you will do

    • Conduct Investigations: Initiate and conduct investigations into alleged misconduct, fraud, theft, or other suspicious activities. This may involve researching records, surveilling subjects, and analyzing financial transactions.
    • Gather Evidence: Collect evidence through interviews, surveillance, document examination, and other methods. Ensure all evidence is obtained legally and ethically
    • Interview Witnesses and Subjects: Interview individuals relevant to the investigation to gather information, statements, and insights. This may include suspects, witnesses, or victims.
    • Analyze Data: Analyze gathered information and evidence to identify patterns, connections, and discrepancies. Use analytical tools and methodologies to draw conclusions and uncover the truth.
    • Compile Reports: Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, evidence, and conclusions. Present findings in a clear, concise manner suitable for presenting to the executive leadership and, or law enforcement agencies. Based on RCA, recommend corrective actions
    • Maintain Confidentiality: Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality throughout the investigation process.
    • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Coordinate with partners from Legal, HR, Operations, finance and other functions when necessary, provide support and information to aid in investigations and in cases where a legal course of action is required.
    • Stay Informed:  Stay updated on current laws, regulations, and investigative techniques to ensure investigations adhere to legal standards and best practices.
    • Focus on Partnerships: Partner with Zonal, Cluster and Area teams to investigate cases of theft, fraud and other high impact incidents.

What you will need

    • 5-10 years of investigative work experience with substantial experience in conducting misconduct investigations, with KRs around detection, prevention and investigation of misconduct related cases.
    • Experience in E-commerce, Logistics, Supply chain, Operations or relevant experience in similar high growth tech startups preferred.
    • Outstanding investigative and organizational skills.
    • Superior problem-solving and project management skills.
    • Experience in team building, managing, and coaching will be a plus.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation.
    • Proficiency in conducting interviews and gathering evidence.
    • Knowledge of legal procedures and regulations related to investigations.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Discretion and integrity in handling confidential information.
    • Previous experience in investigations, law enforcement, or a related field.
    • Ability to travel, sometimes at a short notice.
    • Preferred Qualifications:- Certification in investigative techniques or relevant professional training like CFE, PCI etc.- Experience with computer forensics or digital investigations.- Familiarity with specialized investigative software and tools.
