As part of our team, you will work at the intersection of biology and engineering developing cutting-edge technologies with direct commercial applications in precision medicine.

We are looking for a CNC Machinist to join to join our System Integration team and have impact in the following ways:

    • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary Product domain, including the System Integration Group.
    • Provide rapid prototyping services and support for internal R&D, including operating and maintaining CNC mills
    • Interpret part drawings, prepare stock materials for machining, design and manufacture tooling as needed
    • Perform post-production quality checks and verification of CNC output
    • Maintain and clean CNC machines and other tools
    • Support Mekonos' 3D printing ecosystem, consisting of setup, routine maintenance, repair, and operation of 3D printers (SLA & FDM)

What you have accomplished:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, AA/AS degree preferred
    • Experience setting up and operating (and maintaining) CNC mills
    • Knowledge of CNC programming
    • Ability to read and interpret 3D models and technical drawings
    • Experience machining different materials such as plastics, soft metals, and tool metals
    • Ability to use hand and power tools
    • Knowledge of 3D printing principles, materials, and software is a bonus
    • Basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software
    • Good communication and customer service skills
    • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing need

    • This is an in-person role, based in Alameda, CA.

Within 1 month, you will:

    • Learn about our organization’s mission, vision, and values
    • Learn about your role and department, meeting your colleagues and collaborators
    • Learn about your team’s Objectives and Key Results for the year
    • Complete mandatory safety trainings
    • Begin operating and maintaining machining tools

Within 2 months, you will:

    • Have a conversation with your manager about how you can contribute to your teams’ goals
    • Complete all learning modules of our Onboarding playbook
    • Learn our prototyping process and nuances of different iterations

Within 3 months, you will:

    • Work with engineers to optimize part designs for manufacturing
    • Take ownership of the machining tools, performing regular maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
    • Maintain an inventory of necessary supplies and materials for prototyping operations.

Within 4-6 months, you will:

    • Create new designs for our internal prototypes.
    • Contribute to the expansion of in-house prototyping capabilities to meet future needs.
Compensation:
For this role, the base compensation is $40/hour USD, along with:
        Stock options
        Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance to meet the needs of you and your dependents, with no premium cost to you.
        Dedicated training and development budget

The compensation mentioned is for a Full-time position, based in our Alameda location.
