Memfault is looking to bring on a Director of Talent and People to build our Human Resources department. In this role, you will be central to our success through the next phase of rapid growth, by designing and implementing a system to recruit, hire and onboard more great and diverse talent globally. In addition, the Director of Talent and People will help shape and execute a scalable HR department roadmap to support growth initiatives, manage through change and enhance overall company performance. This includes areas such as HRIS, performance management, payroll, benefits, compensation, office design and much more. Success in this role will lead to opportunities to hire and build out a larger team. This position is in-office 2+ days a week in Boston or New York.

Priority 1: Build a world class team at speed

    • Establish and implement our end-to-end strategic talent process and drive our pipeline to achieve hypergrowth from 35-75 employees
    • Lead the full-cycle recruitment activities, helping to improve our ability to attract and recruit top talent rapidly while fostering our commitment to diversity and our culture
    • Assist the team in interviewing, selecting and constructing offers that optimizes our ratio of hiring effort and quality
    • Create an onboarding program that decreases the time to productivity for new hires
    • Accelerate our employees’ growth with a continuous development, performance management, and departmental career path planning

Priority 2: Imparting your strategic HR experience

    • Be a thought leader on policy and process development alongside the leadership team to drive alignment across the organization
    • Evaluate and enhance the utilization of modern HR technology to improve day to day foundational HR systems (HRIS)
    • Define and track HR measures of success, using metrics and data analytics to continuously improve our strategy and execution
    • Provide guidance to managers and employees to ensure compliance with legal requirements as it relates to employment and employee information

Priority 3: Driving team health, happiness and culture

    • Improve and optimize our employee benefits program, payroll compliance
    • Contribute insights and perspective on scaling our various work modes
    • Have strong instincts on identifying and troubleshooting cultural and performance challenges
    • Work closely with the leadership team to assess and reduce legal risk and liability
    • Ensure compliance with all aspects of employment law

Desired Experience

    • Have 5+ years of varied HR experience in a high-speed, high-growth, startup or small business environment
    • Bring both experience and passion for talent acquisition (recruiting experience is highly valuable), hiring and onboarding
    • Be tech savvy with recommendations for new HRIS technology and platforms to make us more efficient
    • Possess a drive to design, build and lead an HR organization; you can build executive level strategies while being willing to execute on any and all tasks to accomplish it
    • Are experienced and comfortable working a high mix of remote, international and engineering talent and creating a strong fabric of cross-functional communication and teamwork
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high emotional intelligence to build meaningful cross-functional relationships and be a trusted partner to employees
    • Can prove ability to think creatively, partner with the business and cross-functional leaders to develop and execute HR programs
    • Knowledge of current HR regulations, legal compliance and policy compliance, or of trusted external resources in this area
    • BA/BS preferred, Masters/MBA is a plus

If you are hired into a New York work location, the compensation range for this position is between $100,000 and $200,000 based on a full-time schedule. The salary may vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. Incentives such as bonuses may be available for this position for the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
