Job Description

As a Curriculum Director with The Menta Education Group, you will be responsible for academic programming and oversight of special education compliance. The Curriculum Director will collaborate on the development of school plans and procedures for instruction, student’s social/emotional needs, safety, building procedures, and other building needs. The Curriculum Director will primarily support three (3) campuses, those being Harbourview Academy (Phoenix), Tempe McClintock and Tempe Compadre SELF programs, respectively.

Responsibilities

    • Provide guidance and support to teaching staff, assistants and aides on the instruction of students with disabilities in academic subjects.
    • Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
    • Collaborate with teaching staff on the development and update of IEP goals and progress for students on assigned caseload. 
    • Coordinate and communicate with other staff members in order to ensure consistent application of the academic and therapeutic program.
    • Monitor credits and courses required for graduation for students; Support teaching staff in preparing assignments, grading assignments, and preparing reports.
    • In collaboration with administration, maintain all student transcripts, graduation analysis documents and progress reports.
    • Foster collegiality and team-building among staff members.  Encourage their active involvement in the decision making process.
    • Provide two-way communication with central administration, staff, students, parents, and community.
    • Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students.
    • Promote the success of students by creating an instructional program that continually strives to improve teaching and learning.
    • Build a common vision for school improvement with staff.  Direct planning activities and put programs in place with staff to ensure attainment of the school’s and organization’s mission
    • Support and promote administrative policies and goals.

Qualifications

    • Desire to get into leadership
    • Certified Special Education Teacher in the practicing state (e.g. IL positions will require ISBE certification, AZ positions will require ADE certification) 
    • Ideally, experience in Special Education Chair or Lead
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Student-focused and flexible in classroom instructional approach
    • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

About Harbourview Academy Phoenix

HarbourView Academy is a special education school in Phoenix that not only provides a rigorous education but also a temporary short-term placement called Alternative to Suspension (ATS) for students who would otherwise be suspended from their home schools.

The safe environment and special education curriculum in our Phoenix school reduces the number of out-of-school suspensions and provides support to help students reintegrate into their home schools successfully.
