About the role

We are looking to hire a Senior Network Engineer who will support our transition to modern network management using scripting, automation, and the NetOps/GitOps model. With experience in network automation tools and a strong background in networking and security design, delivery, and operations, you will handle end-to-end project delivery.

Joining an international team of engineers, you will support the entire data center stack, from switching to OS layers and cloud deployments. Your adaptable skill set will be key to ensuring seamless operations and enhancing our network capabilities

Responsibilities

    • Ensure network availability and quality, performing repair actions in collaboration with internal teams
    • Take full ownership of projects from the platform and product backlogs, encompassing design, implementation, and operational phases
    • Participate in guard duty service to support our 24/7 operations
    • Monitor network and associated systems to maintain optimal performance
    • Conduct daily performance analysis and troubleshoot root causes of issues
    • Manage the lifecycle of the system's software and hardware, including execution of upgrades and maintenance
    • Enhance automation for provisioning, alerting, and other lifecycle activities to improve efficiency
    • Potentially take ownership of a platform, which includes vendor management and responsibilities for forecasting licenses, capacity sizing, upgrades, and patching activities after a few months
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
    • Train colleagues to foster a knowledgeable and skillful team

Requirements

    • Master’s degree in Electronics, Informatics or Telecommunications
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering
    • Proficiency in at least two of the following platforms: Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, F5, Checkpoint, and Gigamon
    • Strong scripting skills (preferably Python) used in the context of network automation
    • Solid understanding of Infrastructure-as-a-Code principles, with experience in using Ansible and/or Terraform
    • Experience with CI/CD practices, including automated testing and version control
    • Familiar with programmable interfaces on network equipment, such as RESTful APIs, Netconf/YANG, etc.
    • Fluent in both spoken and written English
    • Strong analytical skills and technical problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to understand business drivers, and stakeholder requirements, motivations, and expectations
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • A strong team player who is highly motivated and dedicated

A significant advantage would be

    • Experience with modern monitoring solutions such as nagios, zabbix, Prometheus, Splunk
    • Familiarity with GitOps and Infrastructure as Code concepts and experience implementing it in product
    • Relevant work experience in a large Telecom or Internet service provider environment is highly preferred
    • Knowledge of ITIL Service Operation principles
    • Experience with VMWare
