About You:
The Head of Public Policy will play a critical role in defining and executing Merlin’s policy roadmap alongside Merlin’s CEO and leadership team. This person will have to be able to think through policy development, strategy, persuasion, team-building in order to be an effective policy engineer and advocate.


    • Owns Merlin’s policy roadmap, managing policy advocacy to governments, global regulators, lawmakers, and policy officials.
    • Advise internal and external stakeholders on autonomy policies, while strategically positioning Merlin as a thought leader and trusted advisor to legislators and regulators.
    • Leverage deep policy and political expertise to influence governments and promote Merlin’s technology business.
    • Apply strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills to shape policy and political agenda of industry associations.
    • Manages lobbying activities and lobbying contractors. 
    • Develops deep relationships with customers and other industry participants to  build coalitions to advance Merlin’s policy objectives.


    • At least 5 years in policy-related roles focused on novel regulated aerospace products (aircraft cert, avionics cert, EVTOL, etc.).
    • Proven success of integrating regulatory roadmaps with engineering and certification roadmaps.
    • Ability to build coalitions from scratch to engage governments, customers, and industry to advance Merlin’s interests. 
    • Demonstrated expertise in communicating complex policy issues
    • Exercises strong judgement on complex topics. 
    • Demonstrably excellent communication, collaboration, and team-building skills
    • Travel required to support team meetings, integration and test activities, and industry outreach (10% or less).
