The Metropolitan Opera will be holding an invited audition for ACTORS for non-singing/non-speaking roles for the 2024-2025 season production of Giuseppe Verdi’s AIDA directed by Michael Mayer.
Looking for actors of all ethnicities to portray men in the following roles:
Archeologists, age 30-60; à la Indiana Jones: scrappy, rough and tumble types; must be comfortable with heights and able to lift heavy objects
King’s Guards, age 20-40; athletic physique; statuesque; must be clean-shaven for dress rehearsals and performances
Temple Guards, age 20-40, athletic physique; dangerous and intimidating; must be able to lift heavy objects
Priests, age 40-65
Standard & Palanquin Bearers, age 20-40; athletic physique; must be able to lift heavy objects
Prisoners, all ages and types
These roles are non-speaking/non-singing. It is not necessary to prepare anything for this audition. Some of these roles will require actors to appear shirtless onstage for dress rehearsals and performances. Actors will not be asked to be shirtless during the audition or rehearsals not in costume.
In order to fulfill this engagement, actors would need to be available for the following rehearsal and performance periods:

These are in-person auditions only. Those wishing to attend the auditions should submit their headshot as .jpeg, resume as PDF, email address, and phone number to the Aida Submissions link HERE no later than Wednesday May 15th 2024. If selected to audition, individuals will be sent an invitation no later than Wednesday May 22nd 2024. We are not currently accepting fully digital auditions.
Departmental rates for the 2024-2025 season are no less than $30.00 per rehearsal hour and no less than $91.04 per performance. Additional performance fees may be paid as staged. Call time for performances will be no less than 30 minutes before the first appearance.
