Join a project-focused team that plays a vital role in the success of major infrastructure initiatives. As a Document Control Technician, you will be responsible for managing and organizing project documentation, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance throughout all phases of construction. Your work will support a collaborative environment that includes clients, contractors, and the Construction Management/Resident Engineering team.
In this role, you will handle both digital and hard-copy documentation, assisting in the tracking, distribution, and archiving of technical submittals, RFIs, daily reports, drawings, and other construction-related documents. You’ll serve as a key point of support to the Construction Manager (CM) and Resident Engineer (RE), helping observe, record, and maintain thorough documentation of on-site activities and contractor progress.

What you will do:
- Develop and maintain technical documents, including engineering reports, project proposals, operation manuals, and specifications for transportation projects
- Review, organize, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly documents to ensure regulatory and industry standards
- Ensure all documentation aligns with federal, state, and local transportation regulations and guidelines
- Review and approval of invoices and payment applications which may include final payment
- Manage digital and physical files, ensuring easy access and retrieval
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to gather detailed and accurate information for documentation
- Review and archive project closeout documentation
- Utilize document management software to streamline workflow and improve efficiency
- Support administrative tasks related to construction project documentation
Who you are:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Will have earned or is working towards completion of the IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certification
- Knowledge of P6/ Primavera, Project Wise, E-builder or other project management software
- Knowledge of InDesign Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and Visio or other designing software
- Strong, documented skills in areas of organization, problem-solving and personal interactions
- Ability to learn new software quickly
- Self-motivated
- Follow direction and pay close attention to detail
- Complete assignments on time and accurately
- Meet client demands with thoroughness and prompt follow-up
- Deal effectively with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
- Constant communication to keep people informed and tracking and distributing documents
- Well organized and highly proactive individual to take charge on supporting leadership day to day
Your background:
- Bachelor degree in a technical or construction related field OR in lieu of degree four years of technical document/data management/construction management experience
- In addition to above, must have a minimum of 3 years of technical document/data management/construction management experience
- Valid Driver’s License

$61,000 - $80,600 a year
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
