The Manager of Project Finance and Governance plays a critical role in overseeing the financial performance and governance of construction engineering, and vegetation projects across the Milhouse family of companies. This position ensures financial integrity and operational alignment with the Milhouse Project Management Methodology (PMM), driving success through comprehensive planning, real-time financial monitoring, and lifecycle controls.
This leader will manage the day-to-day operations of the project accounting team, with a strong emphasis on revenue recognition, billing accuracy, budget adherence, and profitability across a diverse portfolio of construction, engineering, and vegetation projects.
What you will do:
- Support the establishment and enforcement of governance frameworks that align with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Assist in the preparation of project lists, revenue reports, and other project reporting metrics to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Oversees month-end revenue recognition and work-in-process reporting, aligning revenue recognition with contract terms.
- Review and approve project setup, change orders, and closeout procedures for accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee billing schedules to ensure accurate, timely client invoicing and prompt collections in line with payment terms.
- Develop and enforce project governance policies, internal controls, and compliance standards across all active and pending projects.
- Ensure adherence to Milhouse project management methodology, including documentation, approvals, and reporting standards.
- Monitor and enforce KPIs and dashboard reporting for project performance and financial health.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop realistic timelines and budgets, ensuring feasibility in terms of time and resources.
- Attend project kickoffs and progress meetings to provide financial insight and support project planning.
- Facilitate effective communication between teams and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance on best practices and offer expertise in cost control, and risk management.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to ensure project viability.
- Audit monthly project billings to look for large disparities in revenue and billing.
- Collaborates with project teams to establish realistic timelines, develop budgets, and estimate costs to ensure that project plans are feasible, both in terms of time and resources.
- Act as a strategic partner to project executives, project managers, and business unit leaders.
- Ensure effective communication between teams, stakeholders, and management.
- Interface with external stakeholders including auditors, clients, and JV partners on financial matters.
- Optimize use of ERP/project management software (Deltek Vantagepoint) for cost control and reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in project financial processes and reporting workflows.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the project accounting and financial controls team.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in Financial Management or Project Accounting, with proficiency in project controls disciplines required.
- 3+ years of proven leadership and team management experience.
- Significant experience in construction accounting or finance management required; prior experience in the Architecture, Engineering (A/E) industry and within project-based organizations strongly preferred.
- Considerable experience with ERP systems, preferably Deltek Vision or Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Deep construction industry knowledge, familiarity with engineering project dynamics, and the ability to quickly grasp technical concepts in order to partner effectively with engineering leads, project managers, project engineers, superintendents, and field operations teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Ability to manage a team effectively to complete deliverables and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of all phases of project execution, from planning to close-out.
- Knowledge of project management strategies and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

$103,000 - $130,000 a year
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
