THE OPPORTUNITY
The Learning & Development Manager will be a part of the Learning and Development Team and will report to the Director of Learning and Development.  The Learning and Development Manager will manage the design, development, and delivery of learning related to a program or programs for our veterans.  This role will also closely collaborate with the Manager, Staff Experience to align staff learning with program participant learning. The manager will align core competencies across all of our Leadership Development programs within the Learning and Development Team.  This role will build out engaging and relevant learning opportunities and identify external vendors to create quality leadership development program experiences for our veterans.  This role will create and plan for synchronous and asynchronous learning that will leverage our in-person time with veterans, as well as virtual learning through our learning management system.  The Learning and Development Manager will also be responsible for delivering high-quality learning experiences to our veterans across all of our programs as a key part of the Learning and Development facilitation team.  The Learning and Development Manager will partner with subject matter experts within and outside of the organization to collaborate on the design, development, and delivery of leadership development work in their portfolio.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
● Collaborate closely with program manager(s) to obtain clear direction of the program content to determine how to achieve the outcomes and learning objectives effectively
● Develop learning paths and aligned curriculum that utilizes multiple learning modalities and leverage adult learning principles
● Manage the portfolio of learning experiences for a program including delivery methods, appropriate learning activities, cadence, and supplemental materials necessary for a strong experience for learners
● Create a plan for assets for the portfolio of learning experiences and partner with our Junior Instructional Designer to develop the assets
● Deliver and facilitate professional learning experiences that are learner focused in conjunction with the entire Learning and Development Team
● Collaborate with the Research and Evaluation Team and Program Managers to gain insights that will direct and inform your body of work
● Establish and strengthen relationships with external partners who are subject matter experts in core areas to deliver tailored or off-the shelf learning to our participants
● Collaborate with the other Learning and Development Managers on the Learning and Development team to ensure consistency and cohesiveness between core competence learning across our programs
● Manage the creation of multiple learning projects happening consecutively
● Develop plans to prepare staff to lead, facilitate, and support leadership development programming from your portfolio

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
● Bachelor’s degree minimum, or 2 years of equivalent work experience in the field
● An individual who is passionate about learners’ experience, and who can translate that passion into content and curriculum design and development
● A dynamic individual with strong written and verbal communication skills
 An individual who has led professional development, facilitated workshops, or taught in a variety of settings
● Familiarity with Adobe Captivate is beneficial
● Must be flexible and able to work some evenings and weekends including up to 10% travel to various locations around the country
● A self-starter who can work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and who brings creativity to problem solving
● Experience working with veterans and/or families of veterans is beneficial
● An individual who has designed, led, and/or facilitated leadership development programming
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s degree preferred
● Experience designing learning experiences or professional development for adult learners
● 1-2 years of experience facilitating learning, leading workshops, and/or public speaking engagements
