Through networks, training, and pathways, veterans can continue to serve while creating meaningful impact in under-resourced communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Regional Operations Managers support our volunteer platoon leaders on the ground across the country. Platoon leaders are the center of our work at The Mission Continues, and we are looking for someone who is eager to provide the support and resources that our volunteer leaders need in order to be successful. This individual will work remotely, but is required to be located in either Washington D.C., Baltimore, MD, New York City, NY, or Philadelphia, PA. While there will be platoons in your city, you will also manage a cohort of volunteers remotely, and will need to build the relationships and tools to ensure that all your volunteers are supported and able to work independently, all while maintaining alignment with the values and mission of the organization.  Our Regional Operations Managers come from a variety of backgrounds, but have one thing in common, a passion for service, and a desire to build a stronger movement of veteran leaders across the country.

In this role you will work closely with the Platoon Experience Team to continuously improve the way we recruit, train, support and retain our volunteers. You will be a coach to veteran volunteers, a resource manager, and will be on the front lines of the impact that our veteran leaders are having in communities. In order to be successful, you will need to roll up your sleeves and do the work both on the ground and behind the scenes, seize opportunities for process improvement, and serve alongside a team of passionate advocates for veteran empowerment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Support volunteer Platoon Leaders with the appropriate and necessary resources and coaching to effectively lead service platoons that positively impact veterans and communities.
- Share best practices and implement effective processes focused on volunteer recruitment and engagement,  a positive volunteer experience, volunteer retention, and  building a pipeline of platoon leaders to continue the meaningful work in communities.
- Provide guidance, support, and feedback on volunteer engagement and management, building community partnerships, developing mission briefs, and project planning and execution.
- Support and inform the training of leaders, evaluation of the platoon program, and implement tools and processes designed to support a consistent and positive platoon leadership experience across your portfolio of platoon leaders.
- Ensure TMC principles and practices with regards to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging are integrated into our service platoon operations on the ground.
- Collaborate with other teams to identify shared outcomes and work together to ensure that our platoon leaders are at the center of our work and results in the overall success of the organization. Ensure that stories, outcomes, and other data are shared in a timely and consistent manner.
- Ownership of desired program outcomes, knowledge of the tools needed, and a strategic mindset to achieve goals through varying conditions with an eye for standard processes and a consistent volunteer experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- A passionate, culturally competent individual who can successfully work with diverse groups and individuals regardless of race, gender, income, identity, sexuality, disability, and veteran status.
- Someone who can support and empower volunteers to grow and succeed through coaching, instruction and encouragement to achieve organizational and personal goals.
- A planner and organizer who can define tasks and milestones to achieve objectives, while ensuring the optimal use of resources.
- A team player who promotes and models cooperation, communication, and collaboration to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
 - A problem solver who recognizes situations that warrant initiative and moves forward without hesitation, and reasonably resolves issues or situations.
- Someone who creates an environment that recognizes and celebrates the importance of every team member feeling that they can show up as their full self.
- Someone who is adaptive and open to different and new ways of doing things, and encouraging others to be equally as adaptive and open.
- A relationship builder who can develop constructive working relationships characterized by high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect.
- A strategic thinker who can develop and foster buy-in on organizational goals and ensure they are reasonable and achievable for our volunteers.
