Role Summary
This role is crucial in coordinating and structuring our external engagements and thinking strategically about our long-term public affairs objectives.
By working on prospective topics and building Mistral AI's long-term positioning, this role involves preparing and coordinating public engagements and official trips.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of diplomatic and economic diplomacy skills, coupled with strategic forward-thinking and a strong understanding of the AI ecosystem and long-term policy challenges.
What you will do
Coordination and preparation of external engagement
• Strategically assess and plan for external policy engagements to align with the company's strategic goals.
• Structure and prepare for external policy engagements and official trips, ensuring all interactions align with Mistral AI's strategic goals.
• Coordinate briefing materials and follow up on action items to ensure impactful engagement.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external entities, including government officials, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.
• Support Mistral AI's representation in diplomatic settings, promoting the company's interests and fostering positive relationships.
• Engage in economic diplomacy to support Mistral AI's business objectives and facilitate market access.
• Position our experts, spokespersons, and advocates with lived experience in key media, events, and policy forums.
• Monitor and analyze political and economic trends that may impact Mistral AI's operations, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Strategic thinking and prospective analysis
• Develop and implement strategic plans for public affairs operations, ensuring all efforts support the company's long-term objectives.
• Cultivate relationships and collaborate with international organizations, think-tanks to enhance long-term policy thinking and positioning.
• Conduct prospective analysis to identify potential policy opportunities and challenges, providing strategic recommendations to the senior leadership.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and developments, ensuring that Mistral AI remains at the forefront of the AI policy field.
About you
Diplomacy & Stakeholder Management
• Proven experience in tactical roles: planning, coordinating, and managing engagements with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and political leadership across Europe.
• Experience working for governments, public institutions, or international organizations, with a focus on AI, digital transformation, or tech policy.
• Strong diplomatic skills: coordinating, briefing, and developing materials for impactful engagement, including follow-ups on action items.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to influence public decision-making on tech adoption.
• Experience leveraging experts, spokespersons, and advocates in media, events, and policy forums.
Business Acumen
• Ability to align strategic plans with the company’s goals and support business objectives through economic diplomacy.
• Experience facilitating market access and monitoring political and economic trends to provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
AI Policy & Regulatory Expertise
• Deep understanding of AI’s societal and geopolitical impact.
• Experience navigating complex enterprise roles in policy and regulation.
• Ability to identify and prioritize long-term policy challenges in line with business priorities.
• Knowledge of rapidly evolving technologies, products, and competitive dynamics.
Communication
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technology into clear, compelling messages.
• Experience crafting narratives and messaging for high-level officials.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Highly collaborative with a history of working closely with CEO/executive-level teams, as well as field, partner, product, engineering, and marketing teams.
• Ability to drive alignment and decision-making across teams on messaging, positioning, and marketing ownership.
