We are hiring our first ever Real Estate Leader to help us realize our mission to better the lives of animals by building a place that’s better for all of us who love them. This role will be responsible for setting our real estate strategy, building our clinic pipeline, and closing deals that enable us to serve an ever increasing base of clients through new Modern Animal clinics. 
This leader in this role will have deep specific expertise in understanding target customers, geographic evaluation, building / managing relationships with real estate partners, site selection, negotiating / closing deals, lease administration, excellent project management and communication skills, and thrive in a cross-functional environment. 
In this role, we are looking for a leader who is passionate about pets and the people who love them, and is excited about rolling up their sleeves to bring our mission to life as we grow. This role will require travel sufficient to deliver on our clinic pipeline objectives (up to +/- 75%).

What the job entails

    • Developing thorough understanding of business model, unit economics, and clinic experience to drive thoughtful site selection and deal negotiation
    • Setting specific real estate regional geographic targets, combining thoughtful, structured, data-driven analysis with qualitative insights from the field
    • Building / managing high performance, trusted network of external real estate partners
    • Codifying specific real estate pipeline targets over time at regional, area, and site level
    • Generating pipeline in line with targets in partnership with external real estate partners
    • Leading negotiation of LOIs with external real estate partners, managing internal review / approval process, and driving to lease execution that meets / exceeds new clinic targets
    • Continuously identifying and implementing opportunities to improve real estate practices
    • Keeping expert pulse on real estate market conditions / considerations across regions
    • Partnering cross-functionally and collaboratively across teams internally and externally, building trusting relationships and a cohesive culture

    • 7+ years of real estate experience in a multi-unit environment
