Steel Quality Specialist

The Steel Quality Specialist is to inspect and assist with our steel supply chain. This includes traveling to our steel supplier’s and inspecting quality and schedule of steel fabricators.  

1. Travel to steel fabricators, during fabrication, to ensure we receive a complete and quality project   on schedule.
2. Inspect welds, measurements, and paint of our steel fabricators.
3. Oversee subcontractors to ensure they are working safely and providing quality work, when repairs and issues are needed, involving the structure of our products.
4. Review drawings, before delivery of our product, to ensure the product is built correctly.
5. Assist in resolving construction problems, related to steel and structure, in the field.
6. Manage the progress and efficiencies for future enhancement.
7. Adapt to changing conditions and schedules throughout the life of the projects.
8. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in steel inspection, welding, and quality control.
• Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

• Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
• Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Familiarity with team-building techniques.
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
• Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
• Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others


• General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
• Noise level is usually low to medium
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
