Molekule is a San Francisco-based science and clean technology start-up that has developed a fundamentally new approach to cleaning air. Molekule uses nanotechnology to break down and completely eliminate pollutants on a molecular level. Allergens, bacteria, viruses, mold and airborne chemicals are completely mineralized through the photoelectrochemical oxidation (PECO) process. Beta trials with 50+ allergy sufferers have shown that Molekule’s air purification technology reduced the symptoms of allergy sufferers down to the range of non-allergy sufferers within only 1 week of use. Molekule is looking for a motivated research professional to aid in testing activities for technology development and optimization. In the Tampa laboratory, we test a variety of treatment strategies and component materials to achieve the most efficient, effective purification systems possible. We are investigating new technologies and applications, with the goal of additional product development and commercialization.
We are looking for a synthetic chemist and chemical engineer to aid in wet chemistry research and other research activities we conduct. The ideal candidate would have experience in or be eager to learn a variety of synthetic methodologies and analytical techniques currently used in the testing and development of new technologies. These techniques include, but are not limited to, UV-Vis / FT-IR spectroscopy, and SEM. In addition, the ideal candidate would aid in developing new techniques and/or apparatus for indoor air purification applications. They will perform experiments, collect data, present data to the Molekule team, and aid in preparing reports with the collected data.
What you'll do:
- Perform wet chemistry experiments in the lab
- Synthesis of organic and inorganic molecules
- Conduct review of literature
- Assist in experimental design and construction of apparatus
- Assist in fabric coating trials
- Assist in filter testing
- Performing and documenting experiments
- Data compilation, analysis, and presentation
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with laboratory characterization and analysis techniques—for example, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM, etc.
- Experience with analytical / statistical software tools (e.g., Excel, etc.)
We are Molekule and we’re changing air purification. Molekule uses 25 years of breakthrough science to destroy airborne pollutants, delivering clean air. Our mission isn’t just making air purifiers, but cleaning the air everywhere. It’s a lofty goal, but that's why we need you.
