The Spacecraft Lead Systems Engineer will participate in flight spacecraft system conceptual and detailed spacecraft design through Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT), launch, and on-orbit operations. The ideal candidate should be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapting to new challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain system requirements for flight spacecraft hardware and software
- Perform trade studies and analyses for spacecraft hardware selection
- Manage Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) design and procurements
- Manage communications hardware design and procurements
- Manage spacecraft harnessing and interface design
- Support regulatory and customer payload technical exchanges
- Support AIT planning and execution for flight spacecraft and subsystems
- Create test plans and procedures to validate spacecraft and subsystem performance
- Support on-orbit operations and flight anomaly resolution activities
- Develop risk mitigation strategies
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience defining requirements and verification plans
- Experience creating power, communications and mass budgets
- Experience with spacecraft mission analysis, design, and AIT
- Experience leading a technical team
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent technical communications skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience integrating and testing spacecraft avionics hardware
- Understanding of spacecraft avionics functions, failure modes and debugging strategies
- Experience in spacecraft mechanical design and quality assurance principles
Education & Work Experience
- Minimum BS in Engineering plus 3 years relevant experience
