Momentus is providing in-space transportation services by building spacecraft that carry satellites and hosted payloads between orbits in space. Our spacecraft are propelled by a new type of electric propulsion system (microwave electrothermal) which uses water as a propellant. Momentus is the first to demonstrate this type of thruster in space.
We are building an Innovation group to address some of the big technical challenges associated with building new infrastructure in space. Members of this multidisciplinary group will work closely with each and with other engineering teams throughout the company to develop new technology.
This is an opportunity to be a part of something new and exciting, work on rewarding and challenging projects with uncertain outcomes, and requires that candidates be highly self-motivated and champions of problem solving in the company. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated technical excellence in one of the following disciplines with prior work experience, research, or publications
·       Materials science
·       Thermal science
·       Compressible flow, fluid flow, two-phase flow
·       High power RF/microwaves
·       Robotics, controls, computer vision and machine learning
·       Spacecraft systems and orbit analysis

A successful candidate will also have the following

    • Graduate level education in an engineering or scientific discipline, or an equivalent level of experience
    • 3+ years of work experience, especially in a startup/fast-paced environment
Salary and option compensation is commensurate with experience and training. This is a full-time position in Santa Clara, California. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required.
