The Carbon Black Product Manager will lead the development and management of our carbon black product portfolio by establishing the product roadmap and creating sales tools based on the technical properties of Monolith’s carbon black. Champion new product development within Monolith’s core technology, manufacturing and operations, and application center teams. This role is designed for an entrepreneurial candidate who wants to drive new business creation and make a meaningful impact on the decarbonization challenges facing the tire, automotive and specialty industries.

Why we want to know You:

    • You have a Bachelor's Degree in a technical (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science etc.) or business (Marketing, Finance etc.) or related field, along with 10+ years of experience in supply chain, operations, product management, asset management, and/or business management in the Carbon Black industry.
    • Carbon black for tire applications is advantageous.
    • You have experience understanding and explaining carbon black applications and market trends to customers.
    • You have a proven track record of collaborating and communicating well with internal and external stakeholders while working with complex, interdisciplinary, cross-functional, and global teams.
    • You are a multi-faceted individual with a blend of technical knowledge and strategic thinking to drive product innovation and business growth.

What you'll do in the role:

    • Lead and communicate new product development requirements across Monolith’s core technology, manufacturing and operations, and applications teams; work with the sales team to develop business cases based on prioritization of the specific carbon black attributes required for each segment within the product roadmap for Tire and Specialty.
    • Through collaboration with multiple teams, you will develop, maintain, and execute the 5-year “Product Roadmap” based on customer-led priorities, including the business case for each of the products developed. ​
    • Engage with sales and applications teams to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and address any issues or concerns. In addition to liaising with sales and applications teams to understand the process of facilitating the testing of new products and applications to ensure successful adoption.
    • Develop the physical carbon black product strategy and make decisions that integrate the customer, regulatory, and market perspectives, including product specifications, in the product planning process.
    • Track and monitor the market trends and drivers with an understanding of key raw material movements and developments. You will also capture competitive pricing intelligence through external and internal sources to inform our market strategy teams.
    • Collaborate with and utilize the defined characteristics of Monolith’s carbon black from the Monolith Technical Center (MTC) to drive alignment through the organization of each of our products with regard to potential advantages or disadvantages, and create toolkits for the sales and product marketing teams to use with customers.
    • Collaborate with the Safety, Health, and Environmental team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards relevant to carbon black products (i.e. identify certifications required).
    • Analyze the product portfolio’s profitability and implement price increases when necessary to maintain targeted margins.
    • Lead cross-functional teams while managing different priorities, and aligning in the best interest of the company’s financial success within set time limits.
    • Communicate product vision, strategy, and roadmap effectively to internal stakeholders, customers, and partners.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
    • Perform other duties, as needed. 

Your environment:

    • The majority of the tasks involved with this position are performed from a remote, home office environment.
    • 20-30% travel required to attend conferences, internal meetings, and represent the company externally with customers as required.
