About the role

As Director of Product Design you will create & set the vision, unlock business value and nurture a world‑class team that delivers best‑in‑class customer experiences across web, native apps and emerging channels across our brands and territories. You will operate at the intersection of product, technology and brand – championing human‑centred, data‑informed and AI‑enabled design practices that drive growth while delighting customers. Leading a team spanning 11+ squads across web and apps, you’ll shape the end-to-end customer experience across our products, ensuring we deliver world-class experiences that drive frequency, retention, and customer love.

What you’ll be doing:


    • 1.Design Leadership

    • Vision & Strategy – Craft, articulate and champion an ambitious, customer‑centric design vision that drives multi year, multi‑market growth. You’ll be as comfortable in the detail and being hands on as you are stepping back and coaching others.
    • End‑to‑End Experience Quality – Own the coherency, accessibility and performance of every touchpoint (web, iOS, Android, service flows, comms).
    • Innovation & AI Enablement – Embed rapid discovery, experimentation and AI‑powered thinking to unlock speed, insight and creativity.
    • Design Systems & Ops – Scale consistency, quality and velocity through robust systems, governance, tooling and metrics.
    • Elevate design leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing design leadership layer, supporting managers and senior ICs to lead with confidence, own outcomes, and grow their teams.

    • 2. Business Leadership

    • Commercial Impact – Translate great design into measurable outcomes: conversion, retention, AOV, cost‑to‑serve and brand equity.
    • Deliver business impact: Own the design function’s ROI by leading the creation of experiences that balance customer delight with measurable business outcomes. Support, own and lead strategic investments and ensure the team focuses on the highest-impact opportunities.
    • Strategic Partnership – Influence senior stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing, and Commercial and C‑suite) on investment cases and prioritisation. Shape company-wide decisions by bringing a design-led perspective to planning, resourcing, and innovation.
    • Data‑Informed Decision‑Making – Combine qual and quant insights (UX research, analytics, experimentation) to shape roadmaps.
    • Market & Competitive Insight – Monitor industry trends, benchmark against best‑in‑class e‑commerce experiences and identify opportunities for differentiation.

    • 3. Team Leadership

    • Talent & Culture – Attract, develop and retain diverse, high‑performing teams across design, research, content and ops. Foster psychological safety, continuous learning and craft excellence.
    • Coaching & Career Growth – Define clear career paths, feedback frameworks and succession plans for both ICs and Design Leaders.
    • Operational Excellence – Optimise ways of working with Product & Engineering (dual‑track discovery/delivery, agile ceremonies, rituals).
    • Budget & Vendor Management – Manage departmental budget and external partnerships, ensuring optimal ROI.

About you:

    • 10+ years in product/UX design with 5+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams in high-scale consumer tech or e-commerce. You build strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the organization, from your direct reports to C-suite stakeholders, to influence strategic decisions and drive commercial results.
    • Experience managing both individual contributors & design managers. You lead from the front, setting a clear example of accountability and transparency, and you actively cultivate a culture of psychological safety where your team can take creative risks.
    • A proven track record of driving both customer delight and commercial results through design.
    • You are adaptable with a growth mindset, seeing change as an opportunity to innovate and improve business outcomes, expressing resilience in the face of ambiguity and inspire your teams to embrace challenges with curiosity.
    • Deep knowledge of service design, research, interaction & visual design, accessibility, and design systems, with the ability to be hands-on and more strategic.
    • Your leadership is inclusive, ensuring every voice on your team is heard and valued, which enriches both the design process and the final product.
    • strategic storyteller who can articulate a clear vision for design's role in the business, inspiring executives and teams alike.
    • Experience in building and scaling distributed, high-performing teams, fostering a high-support, high-challenge culture where continuous learning is celebrated and professional growth is a priority.
    • Experience building and scaling design operations, including AI-enhanced workflows.
