👨💻About the Role
We're excited to announce an opportunity for a Senior Product Quality Engineer to be a part of our expanding team in the China! As we grow both steadily and swiftly, we're embarking on numerous new projects. For these ventures, we require an enthusiastic individual who can:
1. Drive Early-Stage Issue Resolution: Collaborate with our China engineering and New Product Development teams to proactively identify and resolve issues at the early stages of projects.
2. Oversee Trial Production: Collect and address all issues arising during trial production, pushing suppliers to make critical improvements and confirming visual quality standards for new projects.
3. Monitor and Improve Product Quality: Track product issue ratios from Customer Service (CX) and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
4. Meet Expanding Resource Demands: With our growing partnerships and product lines, particularly in soft goods and electronics, there is an increasing demand for resource. This role will help alleviate the burden on our existing team, which is already stretched thin.
5. Address Experience Gaps: As our product range expands, we need expertise in areas where we currently lack experience, including colour control, fabric manufacturing and electronics.
👋About You
As a Senior Product Quality Engineer at Mous, you'll work collaboratively with our New Product Development (NPD) team, Engineering team, Quality team, and Production team. You will report directly to our Quality Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to contribute to a fast-paced environment, playing a crucial role in driving our projects to successful completion with precision and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Set and Maintain Quality Standards: Define and uphold the quality levels for our products.
- Develop and Implement Quality Processes: Ensure that quality processes are consistent, repeatable and align with industry best practices.
- Critical Dimension Review: Translate requirements into Supplier Inspection Plans (SIPs) and ensure they are feasible for both suppliers and our Quality Control (QC) team.
- DFMEA Review: Evaluate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) documents from a quality perspective.
- SIP Signoff: Own the SIP signoff process, ensuring compliance and feasibility.
- Visual Quality Limits: Establish and approve visual quality limit samples.
- CX Collaboration: Set up regular communication with the CX team to monitor 90-day Product Issue (PI) ratio trends and produce reports for the New Product Development (NPD) and Product Engineering (PE) departments.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Supplier Quality Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring they adhere to our quality standards and guidelines.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead efforts to continually improve processes and products based on data from trial production, customer feedback, and internal reviews.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior quality team members, helping them develop the skills needed to maintain our high standards.
How will success be measured?
- Establishing and maintaining a clear set of quality standards that are recognised and adhered to across the organisation.
- Successful execution of trial productions with improved yield rates.
- Development of strong, productive relationships with key suppliers, leading to better adherence to visual quality standards.
- Effective monitoring and improvement of product issue ratios from CX feedback.
Hard Skills:
- 5+ years of quality management experience in medium and large FMCG industries.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in new product development quality management.
- Preferred experience in electronics and/or soft goods industries.
- Familiarity with DFMEA/PFMEA processes.
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of test plan protocols and real-life product comparison testing.
- Understanding of international testing standards (a benefit).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
