The Role

As Moxion's founding Trade Compliance Manager, you will have a key focus in developing and implementing comprehensive trade compliance programs that align with Moxion Power’s core corporate business initiatives. You will also support trade compliance related to business development opportunities outside the United States. The role requires strong general customs compliance experience in an active and fast-paced manufacturing environment. A customs brokerage license is preferred, but not required. This individual will work very closely with various key stakeholders & department leads, including executive leadership to develop and implement Moxion Power’s Global Trade Compliance program.

Skills to be successful:

    • Design, implement and manage an effective import/export corporate compliance program, including creating desk level procedures for all risk areas: valuation, classification, assists, free trade agreements, country of origin, documentation, record keeping etc
    • Identify and draft cradle to grave corporate & desk level procedures for all desk level activities involved in the movement of goods across borders (import/export).
    • Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Management – Optimize FTZ processes, ensure compliance – including record keeping and reporting requirements, manage day to day operations of the FTZ activities
    • Collaborate with finance, purchasing and other key functions to ensure imported & exported goods are appropriately valued. Work proactively with departments to prevent trade disruptions
    • Determine and maintain appropriate import/export classification (Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Schedule B, Export Control Classification Number etc.), country of origin, export licensing, ECCN, value etc
    • Advise senior management, including finance personnel, about trade compliance aspects and risks of proposed business decisions or transactions; collaborate effectively with peers at related company sites
    • Monitor compliance activities and the effectiveness of internal controls; establish and conduct trade compliance summary audits of internal controls at the corporate and site level (procedures, work instructions, forms, checklists, and tools)
    • Produce, create and/or analyze reports from Customs’ ACE portal, internal ERP, and other information systems
    • Support import/export transactions as required for Assist Declarations, Antidumping and Countervailing Duties, Preferential trade agreements, Processing CF28/CF29, duty drawback, Carnets, USMCA certificate issuance or other FTA certifications, etc.
    • Manage the qualification process for goods under FTAs to maximize duty savings

Skills to be successful:

    • Bachelor’s degree in management, International Trade, Compliance (or equivalent experience).
    • 7+ years experience of demonstrated history of competency implementing or working in an efficient and effective corporate customs compliance program from/to Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico
    • Manufacturing industry experience
    • Demonstrated history of managing broker, forwarder, and carrier relationships.
    • Strong program management experience and excellent project leadership skills.
    • Strong negotiation skills and ability to creatively craft win-win scenarios with trade compliance internal/external stakeholders.
    • Deep understanding of various FTAs, specifically USMCA
    • Ability to travel  (15 - 25%)
$175,000 - $200,000 a year

Pay Equity

Maximum amounts are reserved for those candidates that exceed all experience and background requirements.  We reserve the right to offer compensation based on level of experience.  Moxion has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay within the San Francisco Bay area. If you live outside that region, the range is subject to change. 

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range provided above. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
