About Multiply Labs

Multiply Labs is a cutting-edge startup based in San Francisco, California, supported by top-tier tech and life science investors such as Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. We are revolutionizing the manufacturing of cell therapies by developing advanced robotic systems designed to automate and scale the production of these life-saving treatments. Our robots empower biopharma companies to produce cell therapies at scale without significantly changing their existing processes, reducing regulatory barriers and risks. While traditional approaches are time-consuming and lead to extremely high costs for patients (typically $1M+ per patient), using robotics can make these transformative treatments more accessible and affordable to patients in need.

Position Overview

At Multiply Labs, our team operates at the intersection of robotics and biopharma. As a Robotics Test Engineer, you’ll work alongside a highly collaborative team of mechanical engineers, control engineers, software developers and biopharma scientists to test and analyze the performance of robotics systems that automate the manufacturing of life-saving cell therapies. You will play a critical role in the development of production-ready robotics by designing and implementing testing structures, plans and frameworks to ensure reliability and lifecycle targets are met.

As a Test Engineer part of our Robotics Engineering team, you will:

    • Design test frameworks in python to verify the reliability of our integrated subsystems, spanning software, controls and hardware.
    • Collaborate with hardware engineers to create testing jigs for lifecycle testing.
    • Analyze results and debug errors to identify improvement areas across the hardware and software stacks.
    • Design and maintain testing strategies to ensure system functionality.
    • Evaluate customer process requirements for robot interactions and determine appropriate validation mechanisms.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
    • Basic knowledge of robotics concepts such as socket communication, sensors, and control algorithms across software, hardware, and integrated-system development.
    • Experience with linux / unix systems.
    • Experience with test scripts or debug scripts for execution of robotic actions.
    • Experience with data analysis tools such as pandas or JMP.
    • Passionate, curious, and eager to learn.
    • Prioritize organization and detail orientation.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to clearly document engineering test instructions.

Additional Qualifications – Considered a plus:

    • Experience working in a regulated (FDA or USDA) industry.
    • Experience with quality compliance testing.
    • Experience with mechanical assembly or inventory management.
