The role:
- Lead a software engineering squad.
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications and systems.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment, operation and maintenance.
Day to day:
- Lead and manage a high-performing software engineering squad.
- Provide strong technical leadership and coaching to both your team and the wider department.
- Deliver exceptional customer-facing features in an agile environment.
- Write high-quality software using continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Collaborate with peers to design, validate, build, test, deploy, scale, and operate software solutions.
- Contribute to technical decisions around design feasibility, usability, architecture, code quality, testability, scalability, and performance.
- Recommend technologies, tools, and engineering standards that align with team and business goals.
- Actively participate in scrum ceremonies to maintain visibility and accountability on delivery progress.
- Pair program with other engineers to drive quality and shared understanding.
- Support the growth of other engineers through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Foster consistent, high-quality code contributions across the team.
- Work effectively with geographically distributed team members.
- Help embed and promote best practices across the engineering department.
- Stay current by exploring new tools, technologies, and practices, and by participating in learning and professional development opportunities.
Our ideal MyPasser:
- 7+ years of commercial software engineering experience, including leading full-stack teams and providing technical governance
- Proven ability to analyse complex information, design robust software solutions, and produce clear documentation
- Strong collaboration skills with a track record of effective teamwork in cross-functional environments
- Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including writing tested and maintainable code, software testing, test-driven development, and applying SOLID principles
- Hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle, including backlog refinement, estimation, implementation, testing, CI/CD, DevOps practices, feature toggling, release management, production monitoring, and rollback processes
