Vessel is searching for a Senior Logistics Planner in our manufacturing environment to play a critical role in coordinating and optimizing the flow of materials, products, and information throughout the production process. Their primary responsibility will be to ensure that raw materials, components, and finished goods are efficiently transported, stored, and delivered in a timely manner, minimizing costs while maximizing productivity.

Key Responsibilities

    • Supply Chain Coordination
    • Material Flow Management: Ensuring that the right materials and components are delivered to the production line at the right time to avoid bottlenecks or delays in the manufacturing process.
    • Supplier Coordination: Communicating with suppliers to schedule deliveries and track incoming materials, ensuring consistent supply without overstocking or shortages.
    • Production Scheduling Support: Collaborating with production teams to align material availability with the production schedule, making sure the production lines have what they need to operate efficiently.

    • Inventory Management
    • Inventory Control: Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess inventory and associated holding costs.
    • Reorder Point Planning: Establishing reorder points and safety stock levels to ensure materials are replenished in time for production without causing disruptions.
    • Warehouse Coordination: Managing the storage and retrieval of materials and finished products in warehouses, ensuring efficient use of space and easy access for shipments.

    • Transportation and Distribution Management
    • Logistics Optimization: Planning and optimizing transportation routes to reduce delivery times and transportation costs.
    • Shipping and Receiving Oversight: Overseeing the shipping and receiving of goods, ensuring that deliveries are accurate, on time, and in good condition.
    • Customs and Compliance: Ensuring that all shipping activities comply with local, national, and international regulations, especially for materials being imported or exported.

    • Cost and Efficiency Optimization
    • Cost Control: Identifying opportunities to reduce costs in the logistics and supply chain processes, such as negotiating better rates with transportation providers or optimizing order quantities.
    •  Process Improvement: Continuously analyzing logistics and supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
    • Vendor Management: Evaluating and selecting the best vendors and suppliers to provide materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.

    • Technology and Data Analysis
    • Collecting and analyzing data on transportation times, delivery costs, inventory turnover rates, and other logistics metrics to improve future planning and performance.

    • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Working closely with various departments such as procurement, production, quality control, and sales to ensure smooth operation and material flow across the entire manufacturing process.
    • Addressing and resolving issues that arise in the supply chain, such as delivery delays, material shortages, or transportation disruptions.
    •  Developing backup plans for unexpected disruptions (e.g., supplier delays, transportation strikes, natural disasters) to minimize their impact on production.
    • Identifying potential risks in the logistics and supply chain processes and working proactively to mitigate them.
    • Feedback Loop: Collaborating with sales and customer service teams to address issues related to logistics that could affect customer deliveries.

Required Skills & Qualifications

    •  A Bachelors degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
    • Certifications such as Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Lean Six Sigma strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and logistics software, as well as strong data analysis skills.
    • The ability to think critically and solve logistical challenges efficiently.
