We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Materials Management to lead our materials, inventory, and warehouse operations. This is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring that materials, equipment, and supplies are efficiently planned, stored, and distributed to support Vessel’s deployment, maintenance, and expansion objectives. 
 
Position Overview 
The Director of Materials Management will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all materials management and warehousing activities within a centrally led procurement organization. This role is responsible for inventory optimization, and timely delivery of materials across geographically dispersed facilities. 
The successful candidate will partner closely with Procurement, Maintenance, Operations, and Finance to align strategies with business needs and drive continuous improvement in materials management practices. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Leadership 
    • Develop and implement enterprise-wide materials management and warehouse strategies aligned with company goals. 
    • Standardize processes, policies, and performance metrics across multiple facilities. 
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements. 
    • Materials & Inventory Management 
    • Oversee storage, logistics, and distribution of all materials, tools, and equipment. 
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of critical materials. 
    • Implement inventory programs to improve material availability and reduce working capital. 
    • Define and track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order cycle time, fill rate, and warehouse utilization. 
    • Lead cycle counting, reconciliation, and audit processes in partnership with Finance. 
    • Warehouse Operations 
    • Lead and mentor warehouse supervisors and staff. 
    • Implement warehouse management systems and ERP platforms to improve accuracy and efficiency. 
    • Develop and oversee kitting programs to support maintenance, reliability, and turnaround activities. 
    • Drive readiness for outages and turnarounds through early staging, material tracking, and schedule alignment. 
    • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement 
    • Partner with Procurement and Sourcing to align inbound logistics, supplier integration, and compliance with contract terms. 
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess material requirements, mitigate risks, and ensure operational readiness. 
    • Manage third-party vendor relationships and proactively resolve supply chain challenges. 
    • Continuous Improvement & Safety 
    • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all facilities. 
    • Develop staff through training in EH&S, forklift and rigging operations, and relevant certifications. 
    • Implement digital tools and dashboards for compliance tracking, data insights, and performance reporting. 

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (required). 
    • MBA or advanced degree (preferred). 
    • 10+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
    • Experience in a multi-site, downstream oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial environment (preferred). 
    • Deep knowledge of materials management, warehousing operations, procurement, and inventory control. 
    • Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams. 
    • Proficiency in ERP/WMS platforms and Microsoft Office. 
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to track and improve KPIs. 
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. 
    • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and industry-specific safety regulations. 
$175,000 - $175,000 a year
