Design housing like it’s a product. Because it is.

At Vessel Technologies, we believe buildings should be as thoughtfully designed, precisely engineered, and beautifully made as any great product. We’ve reimagined the apartment building from the ground up—as a system, as a platform, and as an opportunity to change the way people live.

Backed by Mosaic Ventures and Lennar, the country’s largest homebuilder, we’re scaling fast and are in search of a dedicated industrial designer to join our cross-functional design and engineering team in New York. You’ll collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing specialists to shape the physical components of the Vessel system—from interior products to façade systems to integrated building technologies.

This isn’t traditional real estate. This is housing, redefined as high-performance, scalable, user-focused product design.

What You'll Do

    • Conceptualize, prototype, and iterate physical components of the Vessel system—from cabinetry to wall panels to integrated lighting and controls
    • Translate architectural and mechanical constraints into beautiful, manufacturable product solutions
    • Work across disciplines to integrate aesthetics, usability, ergonomics, and cost
    • Collaborate with sourcing and manufacturing teams to bring designs from sketch to full-scale production
    • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Vessel design language—inside and out
    • Present work with clarity and intention to internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners

Who You Are

    • 3–5 years of experience designing physical products in a consulting or in-house environment
    • A strong portfolio demonstrating design process, aesthetics, systems thinking, and attention to detail
    • Fluency in 3D modeling (SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar) and visualization tools (KeyShot, Adobe Suite, etc.)
    • Experience with prototyping and design-for-manufacture (DFM)
    • Ability to think at multiple scales—from user interactions to full-room systems to production logistics
    • High standards, low ego, and a deep commitment to design excellence
