The Pre-Construction Manager – Alternate Delivery Projects, is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the pre-construction and design phases of complex infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on collaborative delivery models such as Design-Build. This individual plays a key leadership role in the early stages of project development—coordinating with internal teams, design partners, and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, risk management, and deliverables.
 
The Pre-Construction Manager will oversee the integration of design, estimating, and scheduling efforts to ensure project goals are met prior to construction mobilization. This role requires strong communication and decision-making skills, a deep understanding of construction processes, and the ability to drive results in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Position Responsibilities

    • Lead and facilitate effective planning and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Oversee the complete pre-construction and design development phase of alternate delivery projects from concept to execution.
    • Exercise sound judgment and make informed, strategic decisions that support project goals and client expectations.
    • Direct and coordinate a cross-functional team, including Engineers, Architects, Estimators, and Project Coordinators, to ensure alignment and project success.
    • Identify, track, and manage project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Develop and maintain milestone schedules, holding team members and partners accountable for meeting key deadlines.

Qualifications

    • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in construction, preferably with exposure to water and wastewater treatment plant projects (considered a strong asset).
    • At least 5 years of experience working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams in a collaborative environment.
    • In-depth understanding of collaborative and alternate project delivery models (e.g., Design-Build).
    • Proven project management experience with a strong ability to coordinate pre-construction phases and stakeholder engagement.
    • Willingness and ability to travel across Southern Ontario for client meetings and site visits (approximately twice per month), including overnight stays (fully reimbursable).
