Project Engineer - Manufacturing/Process Development

This position is responsible for contributing to the development of new products and processes through production qualification and successful transition into manufacturing control for production at the cost, volumes, and quality demanded by the cannabis industry. This position also participates in the design process working closely with the marketing group determining end-use product properties that support consumers' needs and desires while keeping in mind the manufacturability of new products.

Job Responsibilities

    • Manages assigned tasks with little or no supervision
    • Works on multiple projects simultaneously, multitasking with efficiency
    • Install new equipment and participate/supervise initial production on new equipment
    • Excellent grasp of safety guidelines for a variety of job contexts
    • Drives a high level of customer satisfaction within our organization
    • Ability to run entire projects, or manage parts of projects within an overall project, leading to new product and process development
    • Identifies and clearly communicates any technical challenges that put the successful completion of projects at risk, defining multiple solutions for these challenges
    • Participates in the creation of a wide variety of documents to support qualification and transfer to production
    • Reports project status, needs, and risks on a regular basis

Job Requirements

    • Ability to obtain an MED badge
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering and/or 3-5 years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude
    • Has or can readily obtain in-depth knowledge of various types of manufacturing equipment and the capabilities of the equipment (i.e. laser engravers, packaging systems, optical sensing and inspection equipment, pneumatic systems, PID controllers, etc.)
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills; Extremely detail oriented
    • Ability to effectively align cross-functional team members to complete challenging projects
    • Good computer skills including: MS Office and Data Analysis
    • Good time management and team building skills.

Preferred Skills

    • Previous project management experience
    • Fundamental understanding of statistics and process control
    • Good computer skills including: MS Project, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Pro/E
    • Experience in scaleup from bench-top process to full production
    • Demonstrated skill set and understanding in support of cGMP, quality, safety, and regulatory functions
