We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to oversee utility-scale and distributed generation solar project design. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and preparing construction deliverables (drawings, calculations) for solar power arrays. Project tasks include structural design of the solar tracker, foundation design, preparing structural construction drawings, coordinating with the project EORs, and construction administration. Effective communication, collaboration, and providing valuable feedback will be vital in the success of this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis on the tracker system using internal tools and structural FEA software (RISA-3D).
- Calculate wind demands on thetracker structure using ASCE 7.
- Coordinate and manage project IFP (construction drawings) deliverables with EOR (engineer of record).
- Attendproject meetings with Sales and customers to answer questions and provide updates.
- Provide construction administration support for ongoing projects, including RFIs and submittals.
- Identify and resolve construction challenges during installation.
- Review geotechnical reports and design of foundation piles.
- Collaborate with other project engineers at Nevadosin the project design process.
- Assess site information and design inputs.
- Contribute to product development, ensuring a thorough understanding of the product.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering orstructural engineering.
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Engineer, preferably in solar, renewable energy, or telecommunicationsindustries.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, with a focus on steel analysis & design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, RISA-3D, and Excel: Preferred proficiencyin L-Pile. Ability to understand basic geotechnicalprinciples (soil layers, L-Pile parameters, frost heave, etc...)
- Proficiency in using Excel automation tools: We use MATLAB/Python software tools for automating analysis & design. No experience is required, but it is required that you arewilling to learn basic programing skills and expand them as you grow in your role.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. This is especially important because this role will be routinely communicating (mostly by email and Teams calls) with our customers and their engineers.
- Excellent project management skills, including task prioritization, resource management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
- Geotechnical engineering experience is a plus.
- PE Licensure is preferred.
$115,000 - $130,000 a year
These ranges indicate base salary. See more regarding total compensation packages below. Actual compensation will be determined based on candidate experience, skillset, and location.
