The Capital Solutions team leverages our extensive knowledge and global networks to support exporters achieve international growth.  We work alongside customers to encourage them to be proactive in thinking about what funding options are best for their business.  Do they have sufficient capital to execute, and the capability to drive a successful financial model?  What options and scenarios should the business prepare for to enable growth?  Our team also ensures the International Growth Fund (IGF) is activated at the right place and time, to support customers build capability and accelerate market development activities by co-investing in growth projects.  

What you’ll be doing
Due to structural changes that enable NZTE to better deliver services and offerings to our customers, we are seeking a Performance and Insights Lead to join our team. This role to enable the new team to be customer-focused and data-informed across the full range of capital solutions, including the International Growth Fund.   

As the Performance and Insights Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring NZTE customers can access value-adding services that support their international growth. You will provide data, insights, research, and strategic support to the Capital Solutions team, driving continuous improvement and enabling high performance and customer impact. 

Key duties of this role include:
- Analyse and interpret data and customer financial information to provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Act as a key advisor to the Director Capital Solutions, aligning the team’s work with NZTE’s strategic priorities.
- Develop and maintain operational reporting to assess solution demand, pipeline progress, and portfolio performance.
- Lead the automation and streamlining of reporting processes, especially around Direct Economic Impact (DEI) and other impact measures.
- Prepare clear and well-organised reports and presentations for senior leaders and the Board.

You will lead the development of operational and DEI reporting, working closely with Capital Solution Managers and IGF specialists to enhance portfolio visibility and add value for customers. By analysing qualitative and quantitative data and customer financials, you will provide actionable insights, advise leadership on strategic priorities, and ensure Capital Solutions data quality aligns with NZTE’s data strategy.
 
What you’ll need to be successful
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a growth mindset, blend of commercial expertise, analytical skills, and a passion for supporting New Zealand exporters. You’ll be proactive, organised, and comfortable working with complex data and financial information.  Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and the ability to present findings and interpret financial statements and data to support commercial decision-making and collaboration is crucial in this role.
Adept at using data and your relationship management skills to guide sound decision making, navigating complex technical and financial information with ease and proactive in looking for ways for us to adapt and continuously improve the Capital Solutions function. Key skillsets we are looking for are:   
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on delivering actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and the ability to present findings clearly.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as SQL, advanced spreadsheets, and data visualisation platforms (e.g., Tableau or Power BI).
- Sound knowledge of financial principles, including accounting methodology and financial modelling.
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or Accountancy is preferred, or equivalent experience in corporate finance or financial analysis.
