This role is based in Tamaki Makaurau, Auckland.

Our offices are located on the Tamaki Makaurau waterfront looking out to Rangitoto Island, a beautiful spot where you will be working with beautiful premium retail brands.

NZTE has a key role to play in growing New Zealand's economy by supporting New Zealand export businesses. You would be joining the Export Customer team - we are a friendly passionate team of commercially astute ambitious Customer Managers who work within the Consumer Goods sector, as well as a mix of other customers.

What you'll be doing | Te whakamahere
This role is best suited for someone who is passionate about manufacturing / consumer goods companies, has high commercial awareness; and who is inspired by helping businesses to grow so they can export to the world. You will work in close partnership with your portfolio of customers to deeply understand their business. You will learn and support them with their challenges and opportunities and their international growth strategy. Together you will build a work programme to help them achieve their goals. You'll be a trusted and empathic communicator, coach and problem solver who connects your customers to the right experts and tools to facilitate this support. In this role you will:

- Listen and understand the key challenges and opportunities for growing manufacturing / consumer goods businesses to identify tools and solutions.
- Influence and engage with your customers to plan and deliver a work programme which strengthens their confidence and capability to export internationally.
- Utilise your understanding of the complexities of international business to help guide your customers in their journey.

What you'll need to be successful | Ō Pūkenga
You will be someone who has a good understanding of the NZ export business ecosystem with strong knowledge of consumer brands and the international retail landscape. A self-starter that embraces change and works at pace, who can work independently but also understands the importance of connecting with the broader NZTE one global team.

Along with your strong commercial acumen and ideally proven business advisory expertise, you will:
- be a strong communicator with the ability to not only build rapport and but develop influential relationships across all levels & types of an organisation.
- have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with customers and across the broader NZTE team globally.
- be commercially astute and be able to provide viable business advice to help exporters grow.
- Be resilient & adaptable, eager to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your customers.

An understanding of te ao Māori and tikanga is valued.
