The Capital Solutions team manages the International Growth Fund (IGF), NZTE’s primary funding programme.   The Capital Solutions team leverages our extensive knowledge and global networks to support exporters achieve international growth.  We work alongside customers to encourage them to be proactive in thinking about what funding options are best for their business.  Do they have sufficient capital to execute, and the capability to drive a successful financial model?  What options and scenarios should the business prepare for to enable growth?  Our team manages the International Growth Fund (IGF) to ensure it is activated at the right place and time, to support customers build capability and accelerate market development activities by co-investing in growth projects.
 
What you’ll be doing
Due to structural changes that enable NZTE to better deliver services and offerings to our customers through our Capital Solutions team, we are seeking two IGF Specialists to join our team. This role is responsible for assessing, developing, and recommending international growth projects for co-funding, working closely with exporters to identify commercial gaps and activate the IGF at the right time.

As an IGF Specialist, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and play a pivotal role in NZTE’s International Growth Fund (IGF) programme, working with exporters to unlock their international growth potential. You’ll use your commercial acumen to assess, develop, and recommend projects for co-funding, ensuring they deliver significant economic returns for New Zealand. 

In this role you will:
- Build and manage a pipeline of quality IGF projects, identifying high-growth customers and projects that meet IGF criteria.
- Assess, develop, and recommend international growth projects for co-funding, working closely with exporters to identify commercial gaps and activate IGF support at the right time.
- Provide commercially credible advice to customers and NZTE stakeholders on all aspects of the IGF funding suite, including developing business cases, assessing project budgets, and supporting financial forecasts.
- Present recommendations for co-funding to senior stakeholders, and communicate outcomes to customers.
- Monitor and support the performance of live IGF projects, providing insights and advice to keep projects on track and achieve performance targets.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing scalable processes, sharing insights,and identifying opportunities to enhance project quality and impact.
 
What you’ll need to be successful
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a growth mindset, blend of commercial expertise, analytical skills, and a passion for supporting New Zealand exporters. You’ll be comfortable making sound decisions, building strong relationships, and navigating complex financial information and adaptable to change.

We are seeking:
- Proven experience in a commercial, financial, or project management role, with the ability to deliver results and act as a trusted advisor.
- Strong understanding of business, financial forecasting, and budgeting, with the ability to analyse complex financial information and make sound commercial decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage credibly with customers and internal teams.
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or Accountancy is required; a postgraduate qualification is preferred.
- A growth mindset, open and adaptable to change, and a passion for supporting New Zealand exporters.
