What you will be doing: Te whakamahere 
Following strong growth in the region, our Melbourne team is looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to join the team as Commercial Business Advisor to help and support New Zealand Tech businesses enter and thrive in the Australian market. 
 
This is a diverse and challenging role, with opportunity to use your deep expertise and commercial relationships.  You’ll help a broad portfolio of tech companies, at different stages of their export journey, to define product-market fit, qualify their total available market and identify best route to achieve market prominence.  This is a coaching role which requires commercial savvy, a healthy dose of EQ and a proven understanding of the growth phases of Tech companies.  
 
You will become a trusted partner to NZ Tech companies and accelerate their growth in Australia. You will proactively support New Zealand companies to develop and execute their business growth plans, including identifying and providing strategic introductions. You’ll also be involved in the identification of potential in-market partners, help develop new channels to market and identify potential growth opportunities.  
 
A superb relationship manager and team player, you will work closely with NZTE’s Melbourne Trade Commissioner and a wider team of Commercial Business Advisors; and with a broad network of business and public sector partners to help advance New Zealand’s trade and economic development objectives across Australia. 
 
What you will need to be successful:  Ō Pūkenga 
With 10+ years of deep commercial experience and the know-how to manage a portfolio of companies, you will have a network of relationships, play a key role in assessing business strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to support market entry and growth strategies in Australia. Ideally you will have worked in SaaS, early-stage start-ups, enterprise Tech or Consulting/Advisory sectors as a generalist tech expert. 
 
Strong business acumen and the confidence to work with founders and leaders will be critical. You will be enthusiastic and willing to “roll your sleeves up” and work proactively and creatively to help New Zealand businesses in a range of sectors and markets. You’ll have outstanding communication and relationship skills with an ability to build trust and rapport with people from different backgrounds and cultures.  
 
An enthusiastic, 'can-do' attitude, proactive nature, creative problem-solving skills and ability to work in virtual teams across different markets and sectors will be vital to success.
