We’re a global organisation that supports Kiwi businesses to succeed internationally. Our Finance team plays a critical role in enabling this mission, and we’re looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to help us deliver high-quality financial insights and stewardship.
What you’ll be doing:
As our Financial Reporting Accountant, you’ll be the subject matter expert for financial reporting across NZTE. You’ll deliver timely and accurate performance reporting for internal stakeholders (including the Lead Team and Board) and external partners (such as Treasury and NZ Inc. agencies). You’ll develop insightful dashboards, improve financial systems, and support financial stewardship across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and ensuring accurate external monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to internal and external stakeholders including Treasury and MBIE
- Preparing annual financial statements
- Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts and ensure data integrity
- Manage the international office funding processes
- Collaborating with the Finance team and other business teams to work on various accounting projects.
- Supporting system improvements to enhance data outputs and reduce manual processes.
What you’ll need to be successful:
You'll be an experienced accountant with strong technical skills and a passion for continuous improvement. You’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification and at least 5 years’ experience in finance, ideally across both commercial and public sector environments Understanding of statutory reporting requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting systems, analytical and time management skills and controls
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar accounting system, Power BI, budgeting/forecasting tools.
- Membership with Chartered Accountants ANZ (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a customer-first mindset.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and high attention to detail.
