What you'll be doing: He aha tāu e mahi ana 
 
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join our Business Intelligence team, who are based in both Auckland and Wellington. This role is key to enabling NZTE's business objectives as you will work with NZTE and partners to utilise your analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyse, and interpret data, and develop data-driven insights and recommendations to difficult business challenges.  
 
This is a great opportunity to make a real difference as you will be responsible for identifying opportunities for leveraging internal and external data to generate actionable insights that inform business decisions. You will be well-versed with different analytical methodologies (descriptive, diagnosis, predictive and prescriptive) including knowing how and when to ask the right questions and how to react to answers. This includes interrogating data and building models that will provide better insights to NZTE.

What you'll need to be successful: Ko ngā mea ka hiahia e koe kia angitutehaere 
 
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Data Scientist, Statistician or Econometrician 
- Postgraduate or higher qualification in Data Science, Economics, Econometrics, Applied Statistics, or related discipline  
- Experience in programming in R or Python and executing SQL queries  
- Experience in working with dimensional models (star schemas), data warehouses and data lakes 
- Experience in data modelling and working with datamarts 
- Able to leverage advanced modelling tools such as Azure Machine Learning studio is an advantage 
- Experience using Microsoft Power BI 
- Natural Language Processing is an advantage  
- Ability to adapt your communication to your audience and deliver information and data to in a visually interesting way that tells a clear story along with a continuous improvement mindset.
