Job Summary

The Senior Technical Lead is responsible for leading a team in designing, building, and delivery of Nextech’s Data and Reporting solutions. This role evaluates upcoming initiatives, assesses technical feasibility, and ensures high-quality, timely delivery of projects while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. The Senior Technical Lead works cross-functionally with Software Development Manager, Product, Development, Cloud Services, DevOps and Support, and acts as a technical authority on more complex solutions acts as a mentor across the organization.

Essential Functions

    • Lead team execution and planning with deep technical expertise for more complex solutions; manage shifting priorities and adjust as needed.
    • Evaluate team strengths; partner with Software Development Manager (SDM) to tailor mentorship and foster individual growth.
    • Collaborate with the Software Development Manager (SDM) to ensure the team is properly resourced for delivery.
    • Serve as the primary technical contributor and contact for assigned projects.
    • Write code, guide architectural and code review decisions; uphold engineering excellence within the tech stack.
    • Translate business and customer needs into actionable, technically sound solutions.
    • Partner with Product Managers and UI/UX to align user needs with feasible technical strategies.
    • Drive innovation; foster experimentation and creativity while providing constructive feedback.
    • Own code quality; implement and enforce QA practices and development standards.
    • Provide technical leadership through the full SDLC, including sprint planning, refinement, deployment, monitoring, ownership, and other necessary parts of the process.
    • Identify and prioritize technical debt and continuous improvement opportunities.
    • Maintain awareness of how team output impacts broader business goals; articulate this to the team.
    • Support career development through mentoring and performance feedback in collaboration with the SDM; may assist SDM with performance reviews
    • Ensure strong collaboration within the team and across functional areas.
    • Represent team in cross-functional meetings; communicate progress, blockers, and expectations effectively; handle complex issues before escalating to SDM
    • Demonstrate excellence in both written and verbal communication.
    • Promote ongoing learning and keep current with new technologies and patterns
    • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned based on business need

Technical Qualifications

    • Expertise in Microsoft Fabric Eco-system
    • Proven experience working with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Data Warehousing, Lakehouses, Notebooks, Pipelines, and Enterprise Data Architecture
    • Strong Data Engineering and Modeling Skills
    • Ability to design and optimize data models for performance and scalability within Fabric’s Lakehouse and Warehouse environments
    • Advanced Proficiency in T-SQL and Python
    • Deep knowledge of T-SQL for Fabric Warehouses and PySpark for Fabric Notebooks to perform transformations, aggregations, and data synthesis at scale
    • End-to-End Pipeline Development Expertise
    • Experience designing and orchestrating robust, scalable data pipelines using Fabric Dataflows and Pipelines, with strong focus on reliability, observability, and reusability
    • Performance Monitoring and Optimization
    • Ability to analyze Fabric capacity metrics, query performance, and execution logs to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations for cost-effective compute usage
    • Data Governance and Security
    • Solid understanding of implementing Data Governance within the Microsoft Fabric Eco-system, workspace-level permissions, row-level security, and data lineage tracking for compliance and enterprise governance
    • CI/CD for Data Artifacts
    • Experience implementing DevOps practices (YAML pipelines, Git integration, environment promotion strategies) for deploying Fabric data artifacts in a multi-stage environment
    • Cross-Platform Integration
    • Strong Familiarity with integrating Fabric outputs with Power BI, external APIs, Azure Synapse, or legacy platforms to support downstream analytics and operational workflows
    • Technical Leadership and Mentorship
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of data engineers, promote best practices in data design and coding standards, and drive architectural decisions aligned with business goals withing the Msft Fabric Eco-system.
    • Full-Stack Development Expertise Understanding
    • Some Experience developing scalable web applications using Angular for the frontend and C#/.NET Core for backend APIs and services
    • Azure Cloud Architecture Understanding
    • Knowledge of Azure services such as App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Key Vault, Application Gateway, and Azure DevOps for secure and performant system design
    • Cloud-Native Security Best Practices
    • General Understanding of identity and access management using Azure Active Directory, Auth0, role-based access control (RBAC), and secure API gateways
    • Agile Development and Delivery
    • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum), sprint planning, story estimation, and iterative delivery with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement

Minimum Requirements

    • 8+ years industry experience in
    • Coaching/team guidance experience
    • Expert in providing guidance and mentorship to peers and influencing across teams

Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelors or equivalent college degree
    • Solid understanding of HIPAA privacy laws
    • Experience working with a Software as a Service and Data Engineering Teams
