Next Shift Learning (NSL) is a workforce design studio that builds economic freedom by shifting minds to ultimately shift futures. Our team is focused on creating engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences that enable historically excluded and underinvested talent to see their potential, share their strengths, and unlock networks with partner companies.

NSL and Snap Inc. have built curriculum and designed instruction for seven years that has engaged 250+ Scholars in a paid learning experience. These Scholars have leveled up in Design, Software Engineering, Communications, Marketing and Augmented Reality through instruction and skills sharing from Snap Inc. team members. This year, Snap Inc. will be hosting the Snap Design Academy, Snap Engineering Academy, the Snap Storytelling Academy, and the Snap Lens Academy.

The four academies are hands-on, nine-week, paid training programs held exclusively for community college students to develop their Design, Engineering, Marketing, Communications, or Augmented Reality skills. Each student will participate in custom, creative and technical workshops, fireside chats, and mentorship with Snap Inc. team members. All academies will start on June 17, 2024, and culminate with a final showcase on August 15, 2024.

Co-instructors will lead 15 Snap Lens Academy Scholars in a nine-week visual, interactive, and 2D/3D education training program that explores Lens Studio & AR principles, professional development techniques, and a final project.
The Teaching Team consists of two Instructors, with support from a Coach, a former Snap Academy alumni. The three members of the Teaching Team will lead instruction during the first six weeks, which consists of domain skills and project activities.
For the capstone project, known as the Final Showcase, you will co-facilitate instruction and support during the remaining three weeks of the Academy.

If this sounds like you, let’s talk!

    • Scholar recruitment application and assessment review
    • Curriculum feedback, revisions, and final project input based on your industry expertise
    • Co-teach visual design, 3D design, interactive design and effects, Java Script/basic programming projects
    • Facilitate the implementation of subject matter expertise, coaching Scholars through all projects, including Final Showcase

What you'll need:

    • High level of ownership of your academy, scholars, and curriculum
    • Experience working in digital advertising and / or marketing
    • Energetic and highly engaging teaching style
    • High quality emotional intelligence skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills

Since 2018, Snap Academies have been committed to reducing the barrier to entry into the technology industry and related fields. These programs provide underrepresented talent with the opportunity to cultivate their skills, build their portfolios, and prepare them professionally.
