The Head of Business Unit is responsible for setting strategic direction for delivery management, defining and implementing standards and processes, managing the team across a broad portfolio of accounts, and successfully implementing recovery for project crisis situations.

You will have a proven ability to successfully deliver the largest projects/programmes (50+ team members and so on).

You have strong consulting skills and you build strong relationships with both clients and all parts of the business agency to define viable approaches/methodologies in line with relevant industry standards and best practices.

You will ensure the individuals within delivery management are aligned and function as a team. Attitude is every bit as important as skills and experience.

You will bring an energy and passion to the role that inspires those in the department and within the wider agency.

You need to be a fantastic communicator both internally and with clients and other stakeholders. 

In this role, you will

    • Day to day management of the delivery team.
    • Review and help develop high value and/or high risk proposals, scopes and plans to ensure business’s viability.
    • Support the new business team to help make the best of new business opportunities.
    • Represent delivery at a management level including at regular management meetings.
    • Define responsibilities, set direction and allocate departmental tasks with the portfolio programme directors and the wider team.
    • Seek to maximize revenue and margin across multiple projects/accounts through project delivery (profit margin).
    • Hold responsibility for the quality of the project deliverables and communications across delivery.
    • Conduct timely, fair and accurate project reviews for direct reports, using the standard templates, where appropriate.
    • Explain NFQ business focus, targets and guidelines, and provide clarity about the implications of these for the team and the individuals within it.
    • Keep teams and individuals updated on NFQ performance against the company's goals. Understand and communicate what it means.
    • Draw on client experiences and external trends to advise others on how to best meet our clients’ current and future needs.
    • Demonstrate understanding of key business drivers for potential clients.
    • Understand how NFQ services can add value, tailoring business strategies and solutions accordingly.
    • Proactively recognize new business opportunities. Develop them and help us to win them.

What will you bring

    • Extensive experience managing multi projects with a wide range of industry areas, especially in the IT domain.
    • Demonstrable experience managing a large team of project managers, with ability to influence.
    • Multiple examples of managing successful technology projects.
    • Experience developing project plans using MS Project  and/or Agile project methodologies.
    • Evidence of management of project teams of 50 people or more to successful conclusion.
    • Managed relationships at a senior level within large corporations.
    • Proven client management abilities to negotiate scope and finances.
    • Experience of crisis management situations with positive results.
    • Proven organizational skills combined with very strong meeting facilitation skills.
    • Can articulate Project Management methodology – processes, practices, controls, team management, project delivery phases.
    • Strong people management skills.
    • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to connect with people and influence.
