We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freelance Copy Editor to join our team. As a Copy Editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of written content. The ideal candidate should possess a keen eye for detail, excellent grammar and language skills, and the ability to enhance the overall readability and coherence of various types of content. Role and Responsibilities
- Proofreading and Editing:
- Review and edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style errors.
- Ensure consistency in language, tone, and style throughout various types of content.
- Correct and enhance sentence structure, clarity, and coherence.
- Fact-Checking:
- Verify the accuracy of facts, statistics, and references in written material.
- Cross-check information to ensure credibility and reliability.
- Style Guide Adherence:
- Follow established style guides and ensure that content aligns with specified guidelines.
- Adapt to different writing styles and tone based on client requirements.
Role Requirements
- Proven experience as a copy editor or similar role.
- Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Familiarity with various style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago, MLA)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with different stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using editing tools and software.
