About the Role:

The Survey Statistician position will focus on modernizing variance estimation approaches for Nielsen’s cutting edge panel + big data measurement solutions. Make an immediate impact with current audience measurement techniques that blend the strengths of high quality representative panel data with the scale of big data assets such as set top boxes and Smart TVs. In this role you will help advise, design, and adapt current sampling error estimation methodologies while utilizing your knowledge of probability sampling design, non-response adjustment, weighting, imputation, and analysis of complex sample survey data

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to understand all aspects of Nielsen data from a total survey error framework perspective, grow their technical and statistical skills to facilitate reproducible research and analytics, and to understand our clients’ problems to ensure our data methodologies directly address and solve them.

Responsibilities

    • Contribute to solutions for problems where established theories and techniques have not been identified or where established procedures are not yet available.
    • Assist in the development of innovative sampling design, sampling variance estimation, and complex survey data analysis procedures.
    • Apply standard statistical and/or data management software package(s) to execute data processing and data analysis methodologies.
    • Independently write code to conduct data processing and technically complicated data analysis without supervision.
    • Use git and cloud development tools to foster data science and analytic reproducibility.
    • Support analyses for Data Science teams including custom requests, client inquiries, impact of changing methodologies, standards and best practices.
    • Examine analysis specifications for completeness, determine how to execute the analysis, modify specifications as needed, provide an estimated delivery date, and accurately deliver analyses on time with a summary of the key insights.
